Chapter 767
At that moment, the sight of someone stepping onto the stage grabbed everyone's attention. The whole room erupted in applause. But when Connor saw who it was, his eyes darkened significantly. Isaac nearly spat out his drink, exclaiming, "Isn't that Chloe?"
Chloe had been invited by Grant for some fun today. It had been years since she last stepped into a boxing ring. The last time was when her coach had them participate in underground boxing matches, supposedly for training. Later, Chloe realized the coach was more interested in making money than training them. However, that time honed her and her friend's skills immensely.
Seeing the ring today brought back those youthful memories. On a whim, she decided to join in for old times' sake. To her surprise, she won three matches in a row, proving her skills hadn't faded. Chloe was taken aback by her success. Having joined in, she had to follow the venue's rules: the winner of three matches had to face a challenge match. It was mostly for show, giving guests a chance to step up, but none were professionals or brave enough.
Since the opening a week ago, no one had dared to take up the challenge. Just as Chloe was about to leave, a voice from the crowd called out, "I'll take the challenge."
Chloe glanced over and saw it was Grant. He wasn't wearing any professional gear-just black slacks and a white shirt, hands casually in his pockets, and a rare smile on his face. Grant strolled onto the stage, greeted by cheers from the crowd. They had no idea who he was, just assuming he was the first gutsy person to accept the challenge.
The host said, "Gentlemen, don't underestimate Ms. Chloe. She's our reigning champ today with three wins in a row." Grant replied calmly, "I know her better than you do." The host was momentarily stunned before suggesting, "If you're challenging Ms. Chloe, please head backstage to get the proper gear." Grant declined, "No need."
The host thought he was
overconfident Hadn't he seen Chloe's previous matches? She might look delicate, but she was fierce and decisive in the ring. Since he insisted, the host reiterated, "Alright, but you're responsible for any consequences."
The host announced, "Let the challenge begin."
Connor watched from the second ched
floor, his expression as dark as thunderclouds. Even Isaac sensed something was off. Why was Chloe here? And how had she won three matches? Why would Grant O challenge her?
Chloe always called Grant a friend, so there must be something special about their relationship. Grant's demeanor seemed almost playful, like he was teasing a child. This seemed... quite intimate. Could there be something more between Chloe and Grant?
Isaac realized he might have stirred up trouble. Connor looked like he was seconds away from storming over in a jealous rage. Isaac patted Connor's shoulder, "Hey, sorry about this." "Honestly, Chloe's impressive. I thought she was just a pretty face, but she's skilled too. No wonder any guy would be drawn to her charm. It's not surprising our uncle's taken with her." Connor's fingers clenched tightly. Isaac added, "Life's like that sometimes; everyone gets a little green on their hat. But you're the main deal-no flashy outsider can shake your place."
