Not His Type Of Mate

Chapter 106

Alpha Leo's POV

We left the abandoned building, and Madison didn't say a word; rather, he was lost in thought. With a sigh, I walked towards him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Forget about it, Gracie is in the past, and Nora, who is your present, needs you to be strong," I said, seeing him take a deep breath and shut his eyes for a moment before opening them.

"We will find her," I assured him, and saw him nod. We all remained silent, unsure of the next step to take. Everything and any trace about him was useless. This was the most difficult case I have ever come across, but I won't give up, not so easily. "What do we do?" Maxwell asked, and I responded, "You all will go to the guest house and rest. I have to be somewhere," I announced, and Madison turned to face me. "Where are you going?" he asked.

"Somewhere, but I have to go alone," I said, noticing a frown on his face. "And why would you go alone?" he asked, suspicion evident on his face.

"Are you suspecting me?" I asked, and he didn't respond. "Listen, if it weren't for the fact that Nora was my mate and that I love her, I would have left all this to you. You can't keep suspecting me," I spoke angrily, and he just looked away. With a deep sigh, I controlled my emotions before speaking. "I have been to China twice, and I have a friend who owns a club. I'm going to see him, but I don't want you to accompany me because his men might recognize you if they are there. Now, do you understand why I didn't want you to come with me?" I asked, and he didn't respond.

"Maxwell," I called, "Come with me," I said, and as I turned to walk away, I looked at Maddison. "Please don't contact anybody. I believe your contact might have alerted him that we were coming," I warned, and with those words, I walked away while Maxwell followed behind me.

We boarded a taxi, and I gave the address of the club to the driver. After a few minutes' drive, the taxi pulled up in front of the club. We both got out of the car, and I stared at the entrance for a moment before turning my gaze to Maxwell. "Remember, we're here to gather information discreetly," I reminded him. "We don't want to draw unnecessary attention to ourselves."

Maxwell nodded, fully understanding the situation. Together, we entered the club, blending into the crowd as best as we could. The atmosphere inside was vibrant, with dim lighting and a haze of smoke hanging in the air. People danced and conversed, unaware of our mission.

I approached the bar, scanning the area for any sign of my friend. Finally, I spotted him at the far end, engrossed in a conversation with a group of individuals. I signaled Maxwell to wait as I made my way towards him.

"Alpha Leo!" Chu exclaimed, his face lighting up as he recognized me. "What brings you here? It's been a while."

I greeted him warmly, trying to maintain a calm demeanor despite the urgency of my mission. "I need your help, Chu," I said, my voice laced with a sense of urgency. "Someone dear to me has gone missing, and I believe you may have connections in China. I need any information you can provide."

His expression turned serious as he listened intently to my words. "I'll do what I can, Alpha Leo. Just tell me where I can help," he replied, and a sigh of relief escaped me.

"Based on the information I have gathered, it is believed that no more than ten thousand people live in this town, and your club is the biggest and most popular here," I said, and he nodded. "Let's go to my office," he suggested, and with a nod of agreement, I followed him while ensuring I maintained eye contact with Maxwell.

"Scan the area and tell me if anything seems suspicious," I told him through the mind link, and he nodded.

I followed Chu into his office and took the visitor's seat while he sat down before me. "Wine, beer, or whiskey?" he asked, but I shook my head.

"No, thank you, Chu," I declined politely. "I need to keep a clear mind for now."

Chu poured himself a glass of whiskey before sitting back down. He took a sip, leaned forward, and his expression grew serious. "So, Alpha Leo, tell me everything you can about this person who has gone missing. The more information I have, the better I can assist you."

I took a deep breath, trying to organize my thoughts. "Her name is Nora, and she's my mate," I began, my voice filled with a mix of worry and determination. "She was taken by a man named Lorenzo," I said, noticing a mixture of surprise and disbelief on Chu's face. "Lorenzo?" he asked, disbelief evident in his voice.

"Yes, do you know him?" I asked quickly.

"I don't think it's the Lorenzo I know," he spoke in his Chinese accent as he shook his head.

"Let me show you his picture," I said, reaching for my phone in the pocket of my jacket. I took it out and brought up his picture from my gallery, then handed the phone to Chu, who stared at it with disbelief.

"Is this the same Lorenzo?" I asked, and he nodded. "But Lorenzo is not a kidnapper. He..." Chu paused and handed the phone back to me.

"Tell me in detail, Alpha Leo. Did you wrong him in any way?" he asked, but I sighed and shook my head.

"It's complicated, but I'll explain it to you," I said, taking a deep breath before explaining the reason for Nora's kidnapping.

We both remained silent until Chu finally spoke. "Can I see the picture of this Gracie?" he asked, and I nodded. I scrolled through my phone and brought up her picture, then handed the phone to Chu.

The moment he saw the picture, a heavy sigh left his lips as he returned the phone to me. "I have seen her here a couple of times with Lorenzo, but that was about four years ago. I can still remember because she was the only woman Lorenzo brought to the club. They seemed in love with each other, but I didn't know they weren't mates," he said, while I leaned back in the seat.

"When was the last time you saw him?" I asked.

"Last night, but he wasn't here for long. You do know he has the ability to teleport, right?" he asked, and I nodded with a sigh. "That's just the problem. His abilities are making it difficult to trace him," I groaned tiredly.

"I know someone who could help. She also has the gift of teleporting. However, the real challenge lies in persuading her to lend a helping hand." Chu said, giving me a glimmer of hope.
