The Elemental Sisters: Spirit

Chapter Chapter Nine (Tyr)

I was glad we had found Akasha. I didn't realize the extent of her abilities, but everything I discovered about her made me want to know her more.

She was beautiful, but not in the normal sense. Her long white hair flowed to her waist and shimmered in the most dazzling ways, like diamonds lined every strand and her bright blue eyes were full of wisdom, yet I could see she had another side she didn't show people. She's the oldest of her sisters, yet short and petite with graceful curves and the white and gold peasant dress she wore just accentuated it.

Half the damn army couldn't keep their eyes off her and she seemed oblivious to it. She had the telltale characteristics of a pixie with her little claws and petite pointed face with pointed fae ears the stars that lined her neck and shoulder proved just how much power she held, her and her sisters had many tiny stars of differing colour I'm assuming to match their elements.

I escorted them to the fire where dinner was being served and left to meet with the General, Ezryn and Mohan accompanied me; I was now supposed to be listening to the report but can't be bothered as my mind drifted elsewhere. "Sir?"

"Huh... yes?" I replied.

"Have you been listening?" I looked at my guards, who smirked at me as I shrugged.

"I'm sorry, but I am a bit preoccupied, can we take this up in the morning?" I confessed.

The General nodded, and we left the tent and headed back to the fire. Out of nowhere, spaghetti slapped Mohan in the face.

"What the...?" he picked it off with an indignant expression as Ezryn chuckled.

"What's going on?" I questioned as I looked around.

Akasha was scolding her sisters. I watched in silence as the food fight between Ari and Gia ensued, smiling at how childish and free it seemed.

“She's giving us the evil eye, quit it." Ari burst into laughter as she looked at Akasha, who had a scowl on her face. With a wide grin, Ari stated, "You have a little schmutz right there." And pointed to her chin. Akasha's face turned red in embarrassment as she defended herself, "What?" as she wiped it away, "is it a crime that I can't eat spaghetti with dignity?"

Ari and Gia, in unison, chided, "Yup" and started giggling.

The surrounding group looked puzzled to which Gia replied, "You either get it or you don't."

Akasha rose, dumped her spaghetti into the fire and went to walk away, walking right into me, as what felt like a jolt of electricity erupted throughout my body. I grabbed her shoulders as she stumbled backwards. "Sorry." She blushed. As she looked into my eyes and moved to walk away, but instead, I grabbed her wrist.

"I was actually coming to find you." I told her, which was partly true. "To talk to you."

"What would you like to talk about?" she questioned as Ari and Gia made Kissy faces behind her. I looked at them as they laughed and walked away. Those two are going to be a handful, I thought as I chuckled.

I led her away from the camp, "Nothing in particular just wanted your company, want to walk with me?"

She blushed and nodded as we headed down a forest path.

"So, do your sisters always argue like that?" I asked, curious about the food fight.

She shrugged, "not to the extent you are seeing. I think it might be a defence mechanism and allows them to release the tension from the last few days. Everything we knew was wiped out in a single night. I am glad they are letting loose in a sense because our lives up until now have been very focused and scheduled."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, when we were little, our lives consisted of learning our realms history as well as what is known about the human realm, battle tactics and training, and learning to control our ever-changing powers, it has been our routine for as long as we can remember. Our powers are constantly changing and evolving, which is why they tend to slip with potent emotion, and after everything that happened, it's only natural for them to regress a little and be freer as it is new to us." "Are you upset about your parents?"

"We all are, but mourning is different for everyone, whereas some mourn by crying and being inconsolable. Others may show it in a way that may be deemed inappropriate."

I was quiet for a moment as I pondered her words, what she had said made a lot of sense. "What is your element? Your sisters are all obvious with theirs, but yours is puzzling." "Spirit."

"What are your abilities?"

"My reflex ability would be to contact spirits and communicate with them. They can help protect or fight with me if I give them energy. I can't ever turn it off. I see them whether or not I want to. Luckily I have Ela and Karm." "Who are they?"

"They have been with me since I was little, they are a married couple that used to serve the pixie King and Queen and died in their service. They still serve them. Ela and Karm made an oath in life that has followed them in death." "So, what are your other abilities?" I asked, loving the gentleness of her voice.

"The other ones I have are complicated, my sisters powers are all straight forward mine are like a puzzle I have to figure out. Some I can't even see how they tie to spirit, yet they do. It's frustrating."

Sensing the unease in her words, I changed the subject. "So do you watch over your sisters, then?"

"It's kind of my job as the eldest. Do you have any siblings?" she asked, changing the subject to me.

"I do, but we aren't as close as you are with your siblings." The anger welled inside me as I clenched my jaw. I hated my half brother.

"So how long have you been leading the army?" she asked, changing the subject.

"I don't really lead them. My father does. Lately, I have been sent on more scouting missions than anything."

"I see, so you are good with stealth if they send you to spy."

"I'm adequate."

"So, were you the ones that led the goblin army away from us the night the village was attacked?" She asked, as if piecing something together. "Yes, how did you know?"

"Ela and Karm told me someone led the army away from us. They are also the reason we made t out of the village to begin with."

"I'm glad they helped you escape and watch out for you."

She nodded with a smile, "How long have you been in the army?"

"Seven years as the leader of the scouts and maybe five in the army itself."

"Always loved a man in uniform." Her thoughts entered my head, and I chuckle to myself secretly. She wasn't the only one with abilities, and who am I to embarrass her by letting her know I can sometimes pick up on people's thoughts? Gods, she was sexy.

"What?" she asked, a little flustered.

"Nothing. We should head back to camp before it gets too late." I replied as I stopped to look at her, brushing a stray lock of hair out of her face and behind her ear. I fought the urge to kiss her as she looked up at me through thick black lashes with those piercing blue eyes of hers. The electrical zap shot up my arm as my hand brushed her skin.

I cleared my throat and looked away from her as we continued walking back to the camp.

"I'll see you later." She whispered with a blush as we reached the edge of camp. I nodded and watched her walk away, her dress swaying teasingly as she walked to her tent.
