Chapter 1462
"Who are you? This hospital hallway has plenty of cameras. I'm warning you to watch yourself and don't go bullying women in public!" Ryan rolled up his sleeves, ready to step in.
Ben wasn't the least bit intimidated. He had been into fitness since college, initially because Jamie liked men with abs, and eventually, it just became a habit. He loved the intense, sweaty workouts, and facing off against someone like Ryan barely registered as a challenge. "Don't fight, please!" Jamie quickly stepped between them. She turned to Ryan. "I know him. Please, just go."
"But he was about to hurt you right in front of me, no less. If he's this rough now, imagine what he'd do if I left!" Ryan protested, refusing to back down.
Every word he said only added fuel to Ben's already raging anger.
Ben's jaw clenched so tightly his teeth ground together. He had canceled a meeting, sped through traffic, and run countless red lights, all in a rush to make sure Jamie was safe.
And what did he find? Jamie laughing and chatting with another man, a man who was now threatening him.
"Jamie," Ben snarled, his voice low and full of warning.
Jamie had no choice but to keep urging Ryan. "I'm really fine. Please, go... I'm begging you."
Keeping Ryan around would only push Ben further over the edge.
Ben's eyes sparked with anger. "Why are you in such a hurry to get rid of him? How about the three of us sit down forza chat? Or maybe I should grab a deck of cards from the store so we can play a nice round of poker?" His gaze, fixed on Ryan, was intense, with an unmistakable edge.
So, over these past four years, Jamie had been with Ryan all along and now she was even carrying his child. Well done.
While he was drowning in misery, here she was, laughing and chatting as if nothing had happened. She really had some nerve.
"We have nothing to talk about," Ryan said firmly, his voice steady. "A man's strength should be used to protect women, not to intimidate them. If you're truly a man, then control yourself."
Ben let out a mocking laugh, like he had just heard a great joke. He turned to Jamie. "Am I a real man or not? Surely you know the answer to that better than anyone."
Jamie felt trapped, caught between the two of them. She didn't want to anger Ben, but Ryan was only trying to help so she couldn't push him away harshly.
Her attempts to gently encourage Ryan to leave only seemed to fuel Ben's suspicions.
After Ryan left, Ben shoved Jamie into a chair, his hand pressing against her lower abdomen.
"Are you insane? This is a hospital! There are people everywhere, and you two already made enough of a scene to draw plenty of attention Do you really want to put on a live show here? Jamie stammered, struggling to speak clearly in her shock.
In a hotel room, or even in the hallway at home, she could handle his advances. But here, in the hospital, was different. She hadn't lost her sense of shame to that extent.
"Jamie, what kind of nonsense is
going through your mind? Do you seriously think I'm as desperate as you, unable to go a moment without a mang" Ben sneered, though he didn't actually make any inappropriate moves.
