Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover

Chapter 700

Chloe had total confidence in Connor's abilities. He was a business whiz, truly one of a kind. If he put his mind to it, there wasn't a field he couldn't conquer. But Chloe was aware that if Claire ever took control, Connor would be in serious trouble. Claire was dangerously

unpredictable. Without the checks of power or family ties, who knew what chaos she might unleash?

In such a scenario, there might only be one way out: to run. Connor understood this all too well. It was, quite frankly, a battle for survival. For years, he and Claire had been gearing up for this very moment. Losing was not an option for him. Despite the whirlwind of thoughts in his mind, he eventually took Chloe's hand and gave her a comforting smile. "Alright, if we really do fail, let's just pack up and head to Luxembourg for a peaceful life." Chloe felt the tension building up. The big showdown was just around the corner. But the thought of simply moving to a new place gave her some solace. Late at night, she drifted off on the couch. Connor gently covered her with a warm blanket but stayed by her side, watching her sleep for quite a while.

When Chloe woke up, daylight was peeking through. The sun had already crept over the horizon, painting the sky with stunning shades of pink and gold. Connor was still by her side, looking like he hadn't caught a wink of sleep, his gaze lost in the distance. Rubbing her head, Chloe sat up. "Weren't we supposed to watch the sunrise together? Why didn't you wake me?"

Connor chuckled, pulling her in close. "You've been struggling to sleep lately, and you looked so peaceful. I couldn't bring myself to wake you." Chloe sighed, a bit disappointed. "Such a shame to miss a gorgeous sunrise like that." Connor held her tighter. "No worries; we'll have plenty more chances."

Once the sun was up, Chloe and Connor left the rooftop. Sartori Tower wasn't just for business-it had a few floors of apartments for the company's top brass to unwind. Naturally, Connor had a place there. The two of them freshened up, showered, and slipped into some fresh clothes. Then Connor took Chloe down to the company cafeteria for breakfast.

The employees were stunned to see them there together. Some even snapped photos on the sly, posting them to social media, which quickly kicked off a buzz. "Today's the big shareholder meeting to pick the next successor at Sartori Corporation. Been waiting for this to blow up all morning."

"And it's also election day in the States, but Mr. Connor's got all the attention right now."

"Who do you think will take the throne-the eldest princess or Mr. Connor?"

"In a shareholder vote, Mr. Connor's got no shot. The eldest has beenzon the board forever and is the VP. My uncle works there, and he says she's way more influential than MO Connor."

"It's odd, though. If the Sartori family doesn't care about male heirs, why did Marian have a son after three daughters, especially at her age?"

swr

"Funny you mention that. I got a tidbit-my aunt used to nanny for the Sartori family. She swears

Marian only had daughters and that Mr. Connor isn't even Claire'@kid."

"Could Connor be adopted?"

"That's a load of nonsense. Haven't you noticed how much Mr. Connor and the eldest princess look alike? They're definitely family."
