Her Revenge Contract

Chapter 137

Katherine's POV

The next morning, Emma waited for me in the foyer, properly dressed and ready to leave.

"I see you are ready," I said.

"I am," Emma replied, and before she could say anything, I walked out the door and headed to the car.

Emma looked at me confused when I got in the car and the driver closed the door, refusing to open the passenger door for her. "What is this?" She asked. "Will I not go with you?"

I shook my head.

"The pack bus will take you to the company; make sure you are on time next time; they will not wait in the future."

I gestured to the driver; he nodded, and we drove off.

Sophia waited for me when I exited the elevator and smiled warmly at me.

"Morning Luna," she said.

"Morning, Sophia," I said, and I walked to my office, and she followed me.

I gasped at seeing a huge red and white rose basket on my tea table, and I instinctively walked to it, touching and smelling the flowers.

I found the card attached to the basket and opened it.

'Love you!' It was written in Xavier's handwriting.

Sophia stood with a gentle smile on her face.

"Do you like it?" She asked.

"I do," I said. "When?"

"Alpha Xavier delivered it early this morning," she said. "He was a bit disappointed that you haven't been in yet after you changed your plans for him to pick you up, but he said he had made lunch reservations for the two of you later today." I nodded and hung the card back in its place.

My office phone rang, and Sophia headed to answer it.

"Luna," she said, "HR is on the line for you. They say Emma Smit has arrived."

"Tell them I am on my way," I said.

Sophia didn't hesitate and did as I asked, and I headed towards the exit.

The HR floor was quite busy this morning, and a new line of Interns were sitting and waiting at the reception.

I headed straight to the director's office, knocked, and walked in.

"Ms. King," Director Lewis said as he got to his feet, "this is a surprise. What can I do for you?"

The dark-headed man looked nervously at me. He surely wasn't expecting me, and the only time I came down here was when I had a problem with one of the employees. "Morning Director Lewis," I said and smiled, "I need some help from you."

"What can I do for you?" he said. "Have a seat."

"No need," I said, "this will be quick."

I have learned to know Lewis's quiet will, and he was a trustworthy person. Xavier did a background check on him, and he came clean.

The nice thing about him was that he was human and had no clue about werewolves.

"Okay," he said, and he tried to smile, but he became even more nervous.

"Director Lewis," I said, "you don't need to be anxious; I am not firing anyone today."

He sighed in relief.

"Thank goodness," he said, "for a moment I was worried."

I chuckled, amused.

"No, on the contrary," I said, "there is a Ms. Emma Smit in the intern line; I need her to do the internship."

"Okay," he said, nodding but looking a bit confused. I never gave preference to anyone; this was new to him.

I sighed, gave in, and decided to explain my reason.

Lewis wasn't a fan of John, and he was happy when he left. So, asking him to give me a proper report on Emma's progress would be the best. I can count on his judgment.

"Emma is the former Director John's youngest daughter," I said, looking at Lewis's face.

"Oh," he gasped, surprised, and looked at me with questions in his eyes.

"I have an agreement with her that she needs to successfully complete the internship in one month. If she doesn't, she will have to leave." "What's the catch?" Lewis asked, worried.

"No catch," I said. "I just need a proper report from you and make sure she gets treated exactly like any other intern. No special treatment!"

"Is she anything like..."

"I am not sure," knowing who he was referring to, "you need to find that out. I know she has a temper, but even I do not know much about her. You are welcome to make calls and get information on her, but I don't want anyone to know that she is a relative of mine." "Very well," Lewis said. "I will do some homework on her and give you a progress report on her."

"Thank you," I said, and I turned toward the exit.

Lewis followed me out, and I headed toward where Emma stood.

Curious eyes were on us.

"Director Lewis is the HR Department's director," I said to Emma, and he will arrange for you to start with the interns."

I was itching to see how Emma would react before the group of curious eyes.

"I didn't come to start with the interns," Emma said. "I am a...""

"Since you insist on working for the King Group," I cut Emma off, "you need to get work experience. I do not employ incompetent people."

"But I am..."

"I don't care about your status," I growled at her. "I only look for people who work hard, know their places, and are completely competent in their work. Learn the company policies, proceed, and understand the principles." "Are you looking down on me?" Emma yelled, "You can't put me here; I don't belong with the interns."

"With me, there is no special entitlement," I said sternly, making sure every one of the interns heard me. "If you want to work for the King Group, you need to prove that you are worthy and fight for it yourself for a position." "Wait and see!" she yelled back at me. "I will show you my abilities!"

The area became quiet, and everyone's eyes were on me.

I sighed and smiled at Emma.

"If you can pass the internship within one month," I said, holding up my index finger in the air, "and become the team leader of your department, I will let you stay."

"I'm your cousin; how dare you treat me like this!" Emma yelled as I turned on my heels and left toward my office.

She has already created a fuss, and Lewis will see to it that she gets treated like the rest of the interns.

Upon entering my room, the familiar scent of Xavier filled my nose, and I increased my pace.

I found Xavier sitting in my office, playing on his phone.

I quietly walked closer, giving me time to look Xavier over.

His perfectly crafted features were still so beautiful that I wanted to run my fingers over every line.

Xavier must have smelled me, and he lazily turned his head my way.

"Morning," he said as he got to his feet.

"Morning," I said, "this is a surprise."

"I am full of surprises today," he said, walking and pulling me into his chest.

His intoxicating scent enveloped me, and I sighed happily in his arms.

"I see you have gotten your flowers," he said, kissing my head.

"Yes," I answered, "and lifted my gaze. "I was about to call and say thank you, but..."

"You had urgent matters to attend to," he said, chuckling. "Sophia told me that your cousin..."

"Yes," I said, cutting him off, "she had already made a scene in the HR department."

"Interesting," he said, and I could feel his body moving in humor.

"You find it funny, don't you?" I asked.

"I do because I know you can handle this kind of thing."

"Mmm," I said, and I broke apart from him. "I think she is sent to create chaos; I just need to find out why and from whom."

"It could be," he said, agreeing, "or she is telling the truth. So are you ready for lunch?"
