Chapter 96
Xavier's POV
"What is it?" I spat angrily at Greyson when he stopped me from getting into the car.
"Brenda is gone; she left seconds after you rushed out," he said, concern still clearly in his eyes. "She gave me this."
"Good," I said, and I took the piece of paper with a number scribbled on it from him. "Make sure security knows that she is not to be let into this building ever again. Next time it happens..."
"I will inform the head of security." Greyson cut me off and swallowed hard. He knew I wouldn't be so kind next time.
I got in, nodded my head at my driver, and took off toward home.
An hour later, I walked into the Sun Set Beach Hotel, feeling more relaxed.
My gaze landed on the brunette girl standing at reception, and I introduced myself.
"One moment, sir," she sang, smiling.
I nodded, and my gaze moved over the beautiful reception area.
Some of the guests had already arrived, and waiters rushed to their sides, taking them to their tables.
I turned my wrist and looked at the time. Kate should be here in a moment.
"Mr. Black," the receptionist said with a smile, "the banquet hall has been set up as per your request. Follow me, please; Mr. Zing is expecting you."
I nodded and followed the pitied girl down the hallway to some double doors.
"I hope you like it," she said, pushing the door open.
My eyes widened as I entered the hall, and I unconsciously nodded my head in approval. It was surely impressive what they had done, yet simple, and it satisfied my needs.
The room was decorated in a deep navy color, giving the illusion of the night sky. Fairlights were set around it, making it look like stars in the sky, and a huge chandelier was centered over the dance floor, symbolizing the moon. Zing had taken my vision and created an extraordinary scene. On every table, small statues symbolizing our culture were centered on interesting flower decorations, hiding their meaning from the general public. Anyone walking in here wouldn't understand the hidden meaning, but as wolves, we could see how perfect that was.
Outside the restaurants, a huge porch overlooks the white sands of the beach, creating an even more perfect atmosphere. It would have been even more beautiful if it were the forest, but this needed to be done.
My gaze landed on the waves quietly breaking onto the beach, and I saw the full moon rising on the horizon.
"She will love this," Ray mused.
"I hope she does, I replied.
My mind raced to last night, and a small smile pulled on the corners of my lips.
I was surprised that Kate took charge, and when she whispered to mark her, Ray took control as soon as her words left her lips. He wasn't going to let her change her mind.
"Alpha Xavier Black," the husky voice of William Zing, grabbed my attention, and I turned toward him. "How are you, old friend?"
"Will," I grabbed and shook his hand, "very well, and you? I love what you did to the place."
"Only the best for my Alpha," he said. "If you like this, you should see and taste what we have prepared for Luna."
"Thank you," I said, smiling. "I think she would love this."
Greyson appeared at the door and gestured that Kate had arrived. I excused myself and followed Grayson to the door.
My eyes fell on Kate, and my eyes widened when I saw her in the perfect little white dress she had on. Kelly had done her hair and makeup perfectly.
"F*ck!" Ray whispered as his gaze landed on her. "She looks like an angel!"
"Truly, she does," I said, and I rushed to her side. I will have a hard time keeping my hands off her tonight.
"Kate," I said as I reached her and took her hand in mine, "you look beautiful!"
I lifted and kissed the top of her hands, watching as her face turned red.
"Hi," she whispered nervously.
"Come," I said, leading her down to the banquet hall.
As soon as we entered, Kate gasped, and her eyes traveled around the room in wonder.
"Do you like it?" I asked, and a shy smile followed on her lips.
"I sure do!" She said and nodded, "Thank you for making my birthday memorable."
Her words pinched my heart as I saw the sadness reflecting in her eyes.
Some days I wish I could just remove all the hate and sadness from her life and replace it with joy and excitement.
I internally sighed as we took our seats and Greyson started the proceedings.
After we had our first course, Kate and I opened the dance floor, and the guests soon followed.
"Are you enjoying yourself?" I asked Kate as we stepped outside.
"I do," she whispered, pulling me closer for a kiss. "I haven't been this happy in a long time."
"Anything to keep you happy," I said. "Should we go inside?"
Kate nodded, and when we arrived at the table, she excused herself to go to the ladies.
"Let Kelly go with you," I said, but she waved it off.
"Let them have some fun," Kate said, and a smile played on her lips as she watched Kelly and Greyson dancing.
"Okay," I said, "be careful."
"I will," Kate said, kissing me on the cheek. "I will be back soon, and maybe we could find a quiet spot for a passionate moment."
I chuckled, feeling my cock harden at her words.
"Hurry back," I growled playfully in her ear, "before I come and look for you and bend you over wherever you are."
Kate turned around, and I watched as she exited the door.
"Has Luna left?" William asked and took an open seat next to me.
"No," I answered, "she has gone to powder her nose.
William nodded in understanding.
"The kitchen has baked a huge cake for her birthday. We want to bring it out and wish her a happy birthday."
"That's very thoughtful of you," I said. "She should be back in a minute or two."
William got to his feet, nodded, and left my side.
The music changed, and Kelly and Greyson walked toward our table out of breath and took a seat at the table.
"Kelly," I interrupted Greyson and her conversation, "would you please have a look and see if Kate is alright? She has gone to the ladies and has been gone a while." Kelly nodded and did as I asked, and Greyson turned his gaze toward me, worried.
"Did you tell her?" He asked, and I shook my head.
"I don't want to spoil her birthday," I simply answered.
Greyson's face suddenly turned gray, and he jumped to his feet. Seconds later, Kelly appeared at the entrance, a look of horror and concern crossing her eyes. "What's going on!?" I demanded to know.
"Luna has gone missing!" Greyson whispered.
