Chapter 15
Bianca's POV
I turned and see one of Emily's loyal servants, a venomous glint in her eye as she boldly lock eyes with mine.
I stood up, my heart racing, and I faced the servant. "What did you just say?" I asked, trying to keep my voice calm.
The servant sneered, but her eyes rome around the room, searching for potential witnesses or support."You'll never be queen," she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper this time around. "Emily will return, and she'll make sure you pay for stealing her place."
I felt a surge of anger, but I kept my cool. "Emily is gone, and I'm the king's mate now. You better accept it."
The servant's face twisted in hatred, but she sat back, realizing she was almost alone. "This isn't over," she muttered, before rushing out of the dining hall.
I watched her as she leave, my mind racing. Was this a warning from Emily, or just a loyal servant's anger? I thought. Either way, I needed to be at alert.
As I sat back down, Edwina approached me, concern well writen on her face. "Your highness, are you okay? What did she say?"
I took a deep breath, trying to calm down. "It's nothing, Edwina. Just a disgruntled servant."
But Edwina's expression told me she didn't believe me. But it doesn't really matter to me at that moment "If you need anything, I'm here for you, your highness," she said, before returning to her position.
I nodded, and I was truly grateful for her loyalty. But my mind was still reeling from the servant's words. What did Emily have planned?
And how can a servant be so fearless to say such to me.
Just then, the doors to the dining hall burst open, and Ethan strode in, his face was so grim. "Bianca, we need to talk," he said, his voice low and urgent.
My heart skipped a beat. What was happening?
I followed him to a private room, my mind racing with possibilities. What did he want to talk about? Was it the rogue wolves or something else?
As we entered the room, he closed the door and turned to me. "I've received a message from one of my trusted sources," he said, his eyes looking all serious.
"Emily is not just any ordinary werewolf. She has connections to a powerful pack, one that could threaten our kingdom."
My heart sank as I heard those words from him. I had suspected Emily was trouble, but this was worse than I thought.
"What does this mean?" I asked, trying to process the information, though it seemed impossible at that moment.
His expression turned grim again. "It means we need to be careful. Emily is not going to give up easily, and her pack might support her. We could be facing a war."
I felt a chill run down my spine. War? I wasn't ready for that.
But his next words surprised me. "I want you to learn how to defend yourself, Bianca. Not just with magic, but with physical combat too. We can't rely on others to protect us." He said looking at me with much more concern.
I was exited to hear him say that. I nodded, determination rising within me. I would do whatever it takes to protect myself, Ethan, and our kingdom.
Ethan's smile widened, and he pulled me into a gentle hug. "I'll arrange for your training to begin tomorrow. In the meantime, let's focus on the council meeting and dealing with the rogue wolves."
I nodded, feeling a sense of purpose. I would learn to defend myself and help him protect the kingdom.
As we left the private room, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. I was no longer just a mate; I was a partner in Ethan's rule.
We went back to join the council meeting and It was intense, with debates and discussions about the rogue wolves and Emily's threat. I listened carefully, trying to takedown as much information as possible.
After the meeting, Ethan took my hand, and we walked to the training grounds. "Time to start your training," he said, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
I smiled, feeling a sense of trepidation. What would my training entail?
As we got to the training grounds, there were no trainees there apart from guards standing by.
"I'll assign one of our best warriors to train you. You'll learn how to fight, how to use your magic defensively, and also how to stay safe in a battle."
I nodded, eager to get started. "Who will be my trainer?"
Ethan smiled. "Someone who knows a thing or two about fighting and magic. And that is My sister, Sophia."
I raised an eyebrow. Sophia? I had heard of her, but I had never met her. I equally didn't know she was his sister. I only know her as a fierce fighter and all that. Just then, the door opened, and a striking woman with long, curly brown hair and piercing green eyes walked in.
"Ah ha, Sophia," Ethan said, smiling. "I was just about to introduce you to Bianca."
Sophia's eyes locked on mine, and I felt a sense of calm wash over me. There was something about her that put me at ease. And that I can't place a finger at.
"Welcome, Bianca," Sophia said, her voice was so calm and warm. "I'm excited to train you. And we'll get started right away."
I nodded, feeling a sense of determination. I was ready to learn, to grow stronger, and to face whatever challenges that is ahead.
As Sophia led me out of the room, I glanced back at Ethan, who was watching us with a proud smile. I knew he had my back, and equally with Sophia's training, I would be ready for anything.
At that moment I sense someone's presence watching from afar. But I can't I identify who it could be.
As Sophia led me to the training grounds, I noticed another figure watching us from afar. When I looked closer, It was Derek, Ethan's brother. I remembered their tense conversation earlier, and I wondered what he wanted. Sophia followed my gaze and frowned. "Don't mind him, Bianca. He's just looking for trouble."
But Derek approached us, his eyes fixed on me. "I see you're getting ready to fight," he chuckled, his voice laced with sarcasm. "Good luck with that."
Sophia stepped forward, her eyes flashing. "Derek, leave us alone. We're trying to train here." Her composure more like that of a warrior. I couldn't help but wondered what Derek could have done to deserve this threat from the siblings. Derek sneered. "Oh, I'm shaking in my boots. The great Sophia, training the mate killer." He chuckled
I felt a surge of anger, but Sophia placed a calming hand on my arm. "Ignore him, Bianca. He's just trying to provoke you."
But Derek's words stung. Mate killer. I hated that term. Because I was not and never. Infact they died on their own I never killed any.
Ethan appeared, his eyes narrowing at Derek. "Leave now, Derek. Before things get ugly."
Derek snorted. "Or what? You'll throw me out? You're not as powerful as you think you are, Ethan." It was then very obvious that Derek was looking for trouble.
Ethan's expression turned cold. "I'm warning you, Derek. Leave."
Derek shrugged and walked away, but not before casting a menacing glance at me.
Sophia watched him go, then turned to me. "Let's focus on your training. We have a lot to cover."
I nodded, taking a deep breath. I was ready to learn, to grow stronger, and to prove myself.
But as we began our training, I couldn't shake off the feeling that Derek's words had left a mark...
