Chapter 583
Chapter 583 Boundaries
Benjamin's face displeased as he was abruptly awakened. Before he could even respond with discontent, the voice in his ears made his eyes immediately dull and vacant.
His voice was hoarse and deep as he asked, "Harper is in the emergency room?"
"You don't know?"
"Why is she at the hospital at this late hour?"
Benjamin threw off the covers and got out of bed, dressing himself while wearing a solemn expression, questioning Yinson.
Yinson said it was reported by one of his students that Harper was lying on the examination bed, presumably just having finished an examination. The current situation was still unclear.
Benjamin didn't say much. He acknowledged and hung up the phone.
His handsome face tensed up, as if it could shatter at any moment.
He didn't even have time to change his shoes, directly grabbed his keys and headed out.
He pressed down on the accelerator, dialing Harper's phone along the way, but she didn't have her phone with her, so nobody answered.
Benjamin's expression turned extremely unpleasant, finally tossing the phone onto the passenger seat.
With a grim expression, he suddenly thought of Annie.
Then, with one hand driving, he picked up his phone and called Annie. After a few rings, Annie finally answered, only to hear his low and hoarse voice asking, "What happened to her? Why is she at the hospital at this hour?" "Pain caused by contractions. The situation doesn't seem serious. The doctor said it was caused by a bad mood," Annie lowered her voice.
Annie's words made Benjamin fall silent.
He didn't continue to ask. "Okay, I know. I'm on my way to the hospital now. Thanks."
He was expressing his gratitude to Annie for accompanying Harper to the hospital late at night.
He suddenly remembered what Paul had said during the day at the Martin Manor. He was Harper's husband, the father of her child, but at this moment, he realized that he seemed to have not fulfilled his responsibilities as he should have. Benjamin's face darkened to the extreme as he continued to accelerate towards the hospital.
He didn't rush in but sat quietly in the car for two or three minutes before pushing open the door and getting out.
Walking all the way to the door of the ward where Harper was, he gently pushed it open, causing Annie to immediately sit up.
Annie walked out of the ward, then spoke to Benjamin at the door.
She said, "She's asleep. Are you staying here?"
"Yeah, you go rest. Do you need me to send someone to drive you back?"
"No need. I'll drive back myself."
"Okay. Be careful and give me a message when you get back."
He said lightly, his face expressionless, devoid of any emotion.
After Annie left, Benjamin stood outside the ward in silence for a long time before finally pushing the door open and walking in.
The ward was quiet, the faint light shining on the woman lying on the bed, he slowed his pace and approached slowly, finally stopping by the bedside.
He looked down at Harper lying on the hospital bed, his face showing no expression or emotion.
He didn't know how long he had been looking Harper like this. Only then did he sit down on the chair beside him.
He was genuinely curious whether, during the abdominal pain triggered by contractions, she had thought of him? Did she think of contacting him at the first time?
Thinking of this question, he smiled faintly, a hint of inexplicable bitterness in his eyes.
The night passed, and Benjamin only briefly closed his eyes. When it dawned, he woke up. Yinson came over personally to tell him about the situation.
"There's nothing wrong. After a check-up later to make sure there are no problems, she can be discharged from the hospital. But she must maintain a good mood
She can't get angry, or have too net
much emotional fluctuation.
Otherwise, multiple contractions can cause her to stay in the hospital to protect the fetus. This way, there will be a risk of premature birth for the baby, so you need to be very careful."
Benjamin nodded, his expression somewhat serious.
