Chapter 587
Chapter 587 Self-denial
Harper also paused. Dorcas wanted to give him shares?
She looked at him more intently, unwilling to miss any of his expressions.
Would Benjamin be swayed?
"Don't misunderstand. I'm not trying to do anything. This is my sincerity. You know, the Madison Group will be under my management in the future, but I know the situation in this industry. I need a backing. I understand you don't have feelings for me, and marrying me is out of the question, but I need the Martin Group to cooperate with me long-term."
"This isn't a small matter. I can't give you an answer right now."
"Then think about it."
Benjamin ended the call, his face slightly cold and subdued.
Harper naturally didn't catch every detail of Benjamin's conversation with Dorcas, but she heard every word he said loud and clear.
After the call ended, Benjamin put away his phone.
His eyes instinctively met hers, unexpectedly finding Harper staring back. Instead of avoiding her gaze, Harper raised her eyes and asked softly, "Is Dorcas offering you shares in the Madison Group?" Benjamin furrowed his brow, his tone subdued, "Yes, that's her intention."
"Would you agree? The Madison Group will surely be hers to inherit in the future. If you accept the shares she offers, does that mean you'll be forever tied to her? If it's just a business relationship, it doesn't seem stable. So, is Dorcas hoping you'll divorce me and marry her?"
Her voice lacked much emotion, as if she was asking him this question out of pure curiosity.
Benjamin suddenly smiled, calmly glancing at her, echoing her words as he said softly, "You're quite perceptive. That's probably what she means."
Harper paused but maintained her calm demeanor as she asked, "And what do you think?"
She asked cautiously.
Benjamin continued to stare at her, his words gentle, "What do you think I should do?"
She gently trembled her eyelashes. "Isn't this a decision you should make yourself?" "Harper, we're married. You should also consider what's best for me, shouldn't you?" "Does Dorcas hope we'll divorce, and then you'll marry her?"
She frowned, her voice hoarse, as she thought back to what Dorcas had said to her before. Dorcas had claimed she wouldn't persist if she knew someone already had a partner, nor would she compromise her principles even if she liked someone.
But now, by offering Benjamin her shares, wasn't she crossing a line? Contemplating this, her expression darkened further.
Benjamin noticed all her changes in expression, including her current displeasure. He calmly responded, "She doesn't hope for us to divorce. She just hopes I'll accept her shares."

"Can she accept that we won't divorce, yet she still wants that kind of relationship with you?"
"What kind of relationship? What do you mean?"
He asked nonchalantly.
Harper's expression became even
more grim. She couldn't find the

right word to describe her feelings at this moment, but she responded, "Isn't she trying to use shares make you her husband? But she hasn't considered that we might divorce. What does she mean?
"Does she hope I'll be your hidden wife? And our child too? If that's the case, Benjamin, I won't accept it. You can agree to her, and we'll cut ties cleanly!"
She finished, looking as if she's made a big decision, her face pale with no hint of color, her emotions slowly building up.
She took a deep breath, clasping her hands tightly together, silently telling herself that if she had to face this situation, then so be it.
Whatever Benjamin's decision, she could accept it.
She had a child. She could raise and care for him alone. She didn't need to compromise for anyone.
