Secrets Of The Neglected Wife: When Her True Colors Shine

Chapter 72

At first, Colton had been curious as to why Allison had hidden her talent for three long years.

But now he realized that it wasn't because of her concealment, but because of her insistence that he remain nothing more than a housewife.

He didn't quite understand his own feelings, and an instinct to flee rose within him, prompting him to say something provocative to Allison.

"No matter how badly you try to imitate Melany, you will never be able to overshadow her.

"

She had made similar barbs before.

Each time, Allison had quietly retreated, occasionally revealing a flash of sadness.

Colton assumed this time would be no different, hoping it would shake her from her cold façade and provoke some emotional reaction.

Even if it was anger, he longed to see it.

But Allison remained eerily calm, treating him like a mere stranger.

“Indeed, no matter what I have done these past three years, you have hated it all.

You never really saw me, whether I was an orphan or a prominent figure.

You hated me just the same.

And now, I feel the same way about you.

Allison had finally come to a place of acceptance, letting go of her childhood obsessions.

“Colton, if you could just keep a firm stance and stop clinging to me, maybe I’d still have some respect for your persistence.

Why the pathetic act now? It makes me sick.

Her words, frigid and distant, struck Colton like a dagger to the heart.

Rebecca nodded.

“Exactly! Why are you clinging on like a lost puppy?” She couldn’t help but laugh.

“Seeing you like this, one might think you’re still carrying a torch for Allison.

If you continue to ignore Melany by your side, she might end up crying in grief! And with Allison being so remarkable, even if you wanted to pursue her, you’d have to bury that thought.

But what would your little mistress do then? She can’t even play the other woman’s role convincingly.

Rebecca's jabs were razor-sharp.

Within moments, Melany, who already felt totally humiliated, began to shed tears down her cheeks.

“Colton, if you still have feelings for Allison, I will step aside so you two can be together.

” Melany’s voice trembled as she spoke, tears flowing freely.

“Lastly, believe it or not, I have never intended to take anything.

I have simply followed my heart in search of true love.

” With that, Melany turned and walked away, seemingly ready to cut all ties.

Only then did Colton realize he had been neglecting her, and he shouted, “Melany, wait!” But she had already taken off, her stride determined and final.

Colton turned to Allison, fury etched on his face.

“Are you doing this on purpose? Did you think that by acting tough you would make me fall in love with you? Keep dreaming.

I know that you used to behave so pitifully towards me just to create this contrast now.

Although you have certainly caught my attention, don’t think for a second that you can take Melany away from me!”

With that, he ran after Melany.

Allison simply shook her head.

“What a fool.

At that moment, she realized how foolish she had been to marry him.

Colton was a complete jerk.

Allison even thought that Rebecca had been right to criticize his choice at the time.

Watching them chase each other, Rebecca turned to Allison with a questioning expression.

“Are you sure Colton doesn’t have some kind of mental problem?”

“Now I’m sure they will,” Allison sighed in relief.

“Let them be together and never bother me again.
