Chapter 76
Chapter 76 William’s the One Who Saved You
“You all need to hurry. I’ll go check on Gwen’s situation, the doctor said to William.
William cast a glance at Jake, shaking his head in disapproval. No wonder Jake was Gwen’s ex–husband. He didn’t care about anything important.
Jake’s eyes flickered over to William, and a sharp bittemess rose in his voice. How did this man know such personal details, like Gwen’s blood type?
“What exactly is your relationship with her?” Jake asked.
“You hav
have no right to ask, and you may leave now,” William replied icily.
“I’ll wait until Gwen wakes up,” Jake insisted, some of the alcohol starting to wear off.
William rubbed his temples, looking visibly tired. “When she wakes up, she won’t want to see you.”
“I was her husband for crying out loud! Am I less important than a stranger like you?‘ Jake questioned.
“At least you’re aware that you’re less important than a stranger,” William shot back.
Their stares clashed in a tense standoff, but William’s unyielding demeanor forced Jake to back down. Jake muttered, “What matters is that she’s alright.”
“With me here, she’ll be fine,” William said, with his tone leaving no room for doubt..
Two days later, when Gwen opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was Ryan standing by her side. His neck was supported by a cast around his arm.
“Thank God, you’re finally awake!” Ryan’s worry eased when he saw that Gwen was okay.
“Ryan, who saved us?” Gwen asked while slowly sitting up. A wave of dizziness hit her as she moved.
The last thing Gwen remembered was someone pulling her from the car, risking the explosion. The person had felt strangely familiar.
“It was William!” Ryan said with a smile. “Sofia’s golden boy, do you remember?”
It was William2
Gwen quickly tried to get up. “Where is he?”
“He left earlier. He said he has some urgent business at Elba Group and told me to remind you to rest and recover,” Ryan explained.
Ryan’s voice was full of excitement as he recounted the events, “You wouldn’t believe how dangerous it was! Your rare blood type had the hospital stumped, but William came in like he was prepared for everything. He brought in over a dozen blood donors, and that’s how you pulled through.”
“He knew my blood type? And he had people ready just in case?‘ Gwen asked.
“Yeah, that was how it seemed,” Ryan replied.
Gwen was surprised by how thoughtful William was. Sofia must’ve told him. I really need to thank him properly.”
Ryan’s expression suddenly grew serious. “But why didn’t you turn the wheel toward yourself?” Normally, when faced with an oncoming crash, a drivers first instinct would be to swerve toward

themselves, putting the passenger in a more dangerous spot. But Gwen had chosen to risk her side of the car as she did not want Ryan to suffer more significant harm.
Gwen’s thoughts were clear–she couldn’t bear to put Ryan in danger.
She smiled softly. “I was worried you might scratch your handsome face. If your fangirls came after me, I’d be in big trouble.”
Ryan was touched by her words and gently brushed her messy hair back. “Silly girl, promise me that you won’t do something like that again. Just take care of yourself. I’m a tough guy. I’ll be fine.
“If anything were to happen to you, our brothers would hunt me down to the ends of the earth.”
“Alright, I get it.” Gwen rolled her eyes at him. “And stop saying such words! There better not be a next time.”
Thinking of the way that dump truck had targeted them so relentlessly, Gwen’s expression grew darkened. “That accident was way too suspicious. We need to have an investigation.”
“I’ve already got people on it. We should have some answers in a couple of days,” Ryan answered.
Gwen nodded but felt her eyelids growing heavy. She was so tired. “Ryan, I’m sleepy.
Ryan quickly helped her lie back down, tucking the blanket snugly around her. He thought about mentioning that Jake had come to the hospital but, on second thought, decided it was better not to bring up someone who caused her so much heartache.
Two days later, Gwen was back on her feet and full of energy.
Taking advantage of Ryan’s absence, she tossed the blanket aside and tried to get out of bed for a walk. “What are you doing now?” Ryan’s voice arrived before he did.
Gwen pouted and obediently crawled back under the covers. “I’m about to rot away in here!”
Ryan signaled for the maid to set up the spread of dishes from the Michelin seven–star restaurant. “Just rest for two more days, and then I’ll let you move around.”
“Ryan, how can you be so attentive and caring with me yet so cold toward Xenia?” Gwen asked with curiosity all over her face.
“What is this about me?” Xenia’s voice sounded as she appeared and stood at the doorway.
