The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles)

Chapter 737

Charles quickly went into the kitchen and started cooking. Noelle finished work right on time at 6:00 pm and got home around 6:40 pm.

As soon as she stepped inside, a delicious aroma filled the air. Her eyes lit up, and she hurriedly took off her shoes before entering the house. "Charlie?"

Leaning against the doorway, Noelle saw Charles wearing an apron. He was busy in the kitchen. There was a look of surprise in her eyes. "Why are you home so early today?"

In truth, Noelle wanted to ask him about the movie's press conference. How did he manage to come back this early?

While holding a ladle in one hand and wiping his other hand on the apron, Charles turned to look at her. "You're back? Go wash your hands. Dinner will be ready soon." Noelle sniffed the air. "You made stew? What kind?"

"Pork stew," Charles replied while gesturing. "Hurry, go wash up!"

"Okay!" Noelle laughed and went to wash her hands. However, she could not help glancing back at him, curiosity evident on her face.

After hesitating for a moment, she asked, "Didn't you say you might be home late today? Aren't you supposed to be at the press conference?"

"Yes." Charles nodded and handed her a dry towel. As Noelle took it to dry her hands, she pressed on, "You still haven't answered me!"

"It's nothing much. I did go to the conference, but something unexpected happened, and it got canceled," Charles said casually, though Noelle sensed there was more to the story. "Something unexpected? What kind of accident?"

Charles smirked and gently patted Noelle's head. "Why do you have so many questions?" He then took the stew to the dining table.

"Before I even arrived, there was an incident. Someone got pollen on Winter's dress, and she had a severe allergic reaction, so she was rushed to the hospital."

"Winter's pollen allergy was triggered?" Noelle asked, clearly surprised. "Very few people know that. Besides the Shaws, only..." She paused. "Do you know who did it?"

Charles raised an eyebrow. "The culprit was caught on the spot, so, of course, I know. But don't worry about it. I'll handle everything."

He took Noelle's hand and gently patted it. "Okay?"

Charles knew that even though Noelle might be aware of the situation, it still unsettled her a bit.

Initially, Charles intended to arrive at the press conference earlier to

create a scene, but he changed his mind at the last minute. Whether he showed up or not was not important. What mattered was tomorrow's headlines.

Noelle bit her lip and tightened her grip on Charles' hand. "Charlie, thank you."

Noelle was not a fool. In fact, she was quite sharp. It did not take her long to piece together what was going on. She realized that Charles came home early today because he was worried she might overthink and feel upset.

She admitted that she could be a bit possessive at times. Now that she was married to Charles, she considered him her husband. She could not tolerate him having any ambiguity with other women not even as a pretense.

After experiencing Xavier's betrayal, Noelle's stance on relationships has become even more resolute. "Thank you for considering my feelings." "You silly girl!"
