Chapter 1
My daughter Charlie was suffering from kidney failure, and before the surgery, her biggest wish was to spend her birthday with her dad at an amusement park, just the two of them alone. I knelt before Charles, begging him to fulfill our daughter's wish, and he agreed.
But on the day of her birthday, she waited for him in the cold until she fainted from coughing up blood. Still, he never showed up.
Her condition worsened, and the emergency rescue failed.
Before she passed away, with tears streaming down her face, she asked me, "Mom, why does Dad like Ms. Dahlia's daughter and not me? Am I not good enough?"
She left us with regrets.
A video was playing on the cellphone that slipped from her small hand. In the video, her dad had rented out the largest amusement park, celebrating the birthday of his and Dahlia's daughter.
...
Only Evelyn was present before the cremation to bid farewell to her daughter's body.
She was dressed in an oversized black down jacket, but it still couldn't hide her emaciated figure. Her eyes, swollen and red from crying, were filled with reluctance.
She took out a pair of hair clips from her pocket, leaned over, and gently placed them on her daughter. These clips were birthday gifts she had designed for her darling girl.
"Happy Birthday, baby. Mommy will always love you."
Evelyn bowed her head and gently kissed her daughter's forehead. The cold touch brought another surge of tears.
Time was running out.
A male staff member came over kindly and reminded her, "Please accept my condolences. Has the child's father arrived yet?"
The records showed that the child had a biological father.
"He won't come!" A flash of coldness passed through Evelyn's eyes.
"Aren't you going to wait a bit longer?"
He, too, was a father. If he was not able to see his own daughter for the last time, he would surely regret it for the rest of his life! The staff believed so.
"Wait for him?" Evelyn scoffed coldly, "It was minus ten degrees yesterday, and my daughter stood at the amusement park entrance waiting for her dad. She stood from morning till night, until she fainted from coughing up blood, and he never appeared."
"Do you know where he went? He rented out the whole Disney World to celebrate the birthday of the daughter he had with his first love!"
The staff member was at a loss for words. He never imagined that such an unworthy father could exist in the world.
Evelyn's fingertips reluctantly touched her daughter's pale, stiff face, and she chokingly murmured, "Do it. I don't want my daughter to suffer more."
Evelyn hoped her darling daughter would be born into a good family in her next life, and have a loving and caring father who would never to let her wait in vain again.
...
It was the deep winter, so it had gotten dark soon after Evelyn left the funeral home. Evelyn hugged her daughter's urn tightly in the back of the taxi. She stared blankly out the window, her eyes filled with sorrow.
As they passed near Disney World, traffic was jammed, and the car slowly came to a stop. Right in front of her was a huge electronic screen, currently broadcasting news.
[Jenkins Enterprises CEO celebrates his beloved daughter's birthday by renting out the entire Disney World for fireworks!]
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
Countless splendid fireworks exploded in the sky, followed by a message appearing in the night sky.
"Happy Birthday to Sandy!"
Under the brilliant fireworks, Sandy was wearing the custom-made Elsa princess dress that Charlie had longed for. She looked blissfully happy as she held one of Dahlia's hands in one hand and one of Charles' hands in the other.
