Chapter 44
Braden/Andrei
Braden stopped by the library to check on the pups. With the schoolhouse burnt beyond repair, the pups needed a building to resume their studies. The pack had taken a vote and designated the library to be the temporary classroom. What's more, given the near-tragedy they recently experienced, Braden made sure fire exits had been in place in every direction before the pups inhabited the rooms in the building.
As for the daycare, the den had usurped the role for now. The pack was a tight-knight group, it seemed no one really minded the sacrifice of the recreational areas for the greater good. Braden was about to check on the crops when he felt Andrei perk up.
"Eva has re-emerged," he communicated to his host. "She's close, and she's angry. I can feel her rage."
Braden froze. "Which direction?"
Andrei focused. "I can't pick up on that, all I can sense is that she's back. Within 20-miles, I'd say. Fucking hell. We should have marked her."
"I'm working on that," Braden said impatiently, quickly grabbing the smartphone from his back pocket. Once he logged into his SUV's tracker, he knew exactly where she was. He growled. "Lake Reva."
Andrei quickly took over, running toward the rogues as quick as he could. When he finally made it to the rogue camp, he saw the SUV parked just outside the encampment. He saw one of the former Bloodstone's pacing at the entrance. She looked worried.
Andrei tried to slow down but failed and ended up sliding towards the former pack member, stopping just before he collided into her. He recognized her immediately. She was the sister of Alpha Thaddeus's first mate. "Where is she, Orphea?" Andrei communicated.
Without hesitation, she responded, "Eastern part of the lake," she yelled.
As he headed in the direction she pointed him to, Orphea yelled out, "Blood has already tainted the air. Hurry." Andrei picked up Eva's scent and followed the track hoping to find her in time.
His very life depended on it.
