Chapter 0546

As expected, Hansel still didn’t respond.

Willow stopped trying to make conversation. Instead, she pulled her winter jacket tighter around herself as she sat with him on the wooden bench outside of campus. She endured the biting cold wind and accompanied Hansel as the night gradually descended.

It wasn’t until the sky was fully dark, the street lights flickered on, and the neon signs at the distant commercial district began to light up that Hansel finally stood up slowly.

Willow was surprised and called out, “Hey…”

Hansel ignored her and headed to his car. He got in, started the engine, and drove off.

At that moment, Willow found herself a little envious of Miranda. How did she manage to make such a proud man willingly lower himself for her? How could she remain unmoved by the allure of luxury cars and expensive watches?

Sure enough, she had clearly witnessed the scene of Hansel dropping Miranda off earlier. Although she was too far away to hear what they were saying, it wasn’t hard to deduce from the dejected look on his face that Miranda had rejected him. And it obviously wasn’t a gentle rejection.

Willow shoved her hands into the pockets of her winter jacket, feeling the warmth slowly returning to her cold palms. She had kept Hansel company in such cold weather and sat with him against the biting winds. Even with long boots on, her feet had become as cold as ice.

Still, she thought it was worth it.

The glance Hansel gave her earlier showed that he at least recognized her. Her lips curled up into a smile as she looked in the direction that he drove away. The envy in her eyes gradually transformed into determination.

The first time she ran into Hansel, Willow had simply been curious about him. After their repeated encounters, she realized he was from a social class far beyond her reach.

If she missed such an opportunity, it might never come again. So why would she hesitate?

It was just that…

He seemed to be much harder to win over than she initially thought.

At that thought, Willow couldn’t stop herself from frowning. But soon, her gaze became eager once more.

High difficulty meant getting high returns. Wasn’t that all the more worth pursuing?

Hansel returned to the mansion, feeling utterly defeated. At this hour, Martha had already finished cleaning and left. He was the only person in the large, vast space.

Calvin was aware of his plans. He guessed that there would be an outcome by this time, so he called to ask, “So, how did it go? Was Miranda deeply moved? Did she agree to get back together?”

Hansel’s chest tightened. He didn’t answer the question; instead, he said, “Come out and have a drink

with me.”

Calvin’s heart sank. He realized what must have happened.

At the bar, Calvin saw Hansel sitting on the couch, drinking in silence. He wasn’t sure if it was the lighting or that Hansel was drunk, but his eyes looked a little red.

Two empty bottles were placed on the table in front of him. Yet, Hansel continued taking one gulp after another. It was as if he planned to drink himself to oblivion.

Calvin quickly went over to Hansel. He sat down beside him and said with concern, “Hans, you need to stop drinking. I know you’re upset, but there are plenty of other women in the world. Maybe… it’s time to let her go. As long as you want, there are plenty of women who are yours for the taking!”

Hansel didn’t respond. The booming music and laughter of the crowd floated in through the doorway, pulsating in his ear. His consciousness was already starting to blur.

“Do you remember this bar?” he suddenly asked.

Calvin was taken aback as he looked around the surroundings. He couldn’t help but gasp when he recalled something.

This bar was where they celebrated Hansel’s birthday, the very place where he held Ingrid in his arms when he asked for a breakup with Miranda!

Furthermore, it was even the same private room!
