When They Beg, I Rise!

Chapter 234

The Langstons had a knack for winning people over with small acts of kindness. But she wouldn't be swayed, nor would she look back.

Seeing her determination, Orion knew that even if she were to live in Orvin on her own, she wouldn't be easily bullied.

On the other end of the phone, after sending a message, Lucian tried calling again. Still, no answer.

He thought that after sending those words, Lemira would at least pick up the phone, willing to hear him out for a minute! But to his surprise, Lemira didn't even pick up the call! Asher scoffed, "How's it? Is Lemira too guilty to answer the phone?"

"Asher, Lemmy's not like that. And given the circumstances, we can't just take Evelina's word for it and blame Lemmy."

"Lucian, I think you've been brainwashed by Lemira. Eve got hurt like that, and you still say Lemira's not to blame? I'm starting to think the surveillance camera was tampered with, which might be Lemira's doing." Asher had thought the surveillance footage would clear everything up. Turned out, the footage was corrupted.

Evelina coughed deliberately, "Asher, let it go. I don't want to pursue this any further."

She was secretly relieved the footage was gone. It was a stroke of luck.

She had her defense all planned out, but it turned out to be unnecessary. What if they kept digging and the surveillance data was recovered? She couldn't take that risk! Seeing Evelina's magnanimity, Asher said, "You're just too kind."

Lucian, however, harbored doubts, "Evelina, did Lemmy really push you down the stairs?"

Evelina was flustered, "Y-Yes."

"But according to what you described, Lemmy was standing at the bottom of the stairs, and you were at the top. How could she have pushed you down?" That just didn't add up.

Evelina lowered her head in panic, "Lucian, I was just trying to talk to Lemmy, but she got emotional and pulled me, causing me to fall."

"But you said Lemira pushed you down the stairs, didn't you?"

If it was really a pull, why didn't Evelina use that word? Evelina's statements were contradictory!

Feeling extremely guilty, Evelina coughed violently, afraid of being caught in a lie.

Asher interjected, "What are you implying by interrogating her like this?"

"I just want to get to the bottom of the truth."

"They're sisters. A little pushing and shoving, and things got out of hand. Isn't that obvious?"

Lucian felt exhausted, "Asher, it's not like that. You can't just blame Lemmy."

"Enough, you've been so blinded by Lemira, you're spoiling her."

Frustrated, Lucian left the hospital room, tugging at his collar, feeling both suffocated and irritated.

Why wouldn't Asher just listen to him? Now, he realized Evelina wasn't as innocent as she seemed.

Seeing Asher's prejudice against

Lemira reminded him of his own et

past mistakes. No wonder his little sister was so adamant about leaving the Langstons.

Taking out his phone, Lucian deliberated before sending a message. [Lemmy, if you ever into trouble in Orvin, you can always count on me.]

Lemira's phone buzzed once more. She didn't even glance at it; right now, her emotions were a tangled mess.

Back at the restaurant, when Orion

covered her ears, her heart fluttered uncontrollably. Now that she was about to start college life, she ошно thought, maybe it was time to follow

her own feelings.

Orion sensed Lemira's distraction, "What's on your mind?"

Lemira's gaze flickered, "Did you come to Orvin looking for your girlfriend?"
