Winning Her Heart Back (Emelie Hoven )

Chapter 919

Chapter 919 High School Chronicles: The End of Youth

Wesley fought back his pain and replied, "No."

"Then what is it?" Emelie asked, confused and hurt. "Wesley, you can tell me anything, just like you said. That's what girlfriends are for. Even if I can't solve your problems, at least I can listen. Talking things out often feels better than keeping them bottled up inside.

"Of course, if you really need space, I can give you that. But you can't just disappear on me. I'll worry, overthink, and it'll be really painful for me."

Wesley felt a stab in his heart when he heard her mention her pain. However, he wasn't allowed to say anything. "Eme, let's just leave it here. I'll have someone take you home," he said.

Emelie's eyes suddenly welled up with tears. "Is this it? Wesley, are you breaking up with me?"

Wesley hesitated, gulping. He couldn't bring himself to say "yes", but he couldn't say "no" either.

During his ten seconds of silence, Emelie's eyelashes fluttered like broken butterfly wings. Without warning, tears poured from her eyes, streaming down her cheeks.

Wesley was taken aback by her tears and moved forward to say something. However, Emelie retreated, turning and running away.

Wesley's first instinct was to chase after her, but Yennifer appeared in time. "Wes! Don't make things worse." He stopped abruptly.

The Graham family residence was halfway up a hill. Emelie ran down the mountain path, desperately wiping away her tears, but it was like trying to stop the flow of water with a knife. Her hot tears kept spilling over her cheeks.

Autumn wasn't a good season. Everything withered.

with her vision blurred and running too fast, Emelie tripped over her own feet and fell. She returned home in disarray, hiding under her desk, hugging her knees, biting her hand.

She feared that her parents downstairs would hear her, so she dared not cry out loud.

Her hand was marked with deep bites from her teeth, and she shivered with every breath, sobbing in the most painful way.

She cried nearly all night.

The next morning, when Greta called her to get up, her eyes were swollen like walnuts. Her head was pounding as she hoarsely said, "Mom..."

Just saying that made her tears start flowing again, shocking Greta. "What's wrong with you, Eme?"

"Mom, I don't want to go to school. My head hurts so much. I'm in so much pain." Emelie buried herself in the blankets, her entire body trembling.

Greta felt her forehead, which was slightly warm. Hence, she thought she was sick.

She hurriedly said, "Okay, okay, you don't have to go to school today. I'll call your teacher and explain. Eme, where else do you feel unwell? Have some breakfast, and I'll take you to the hospital, okay?"

Emelie shook her head, not wanting to say anything. "Mom, let me sleep a little longer. I'll be fine after a bit of rest,"

Greta stayed with her for a while, but Emelie just cried herself to sleep, drifting drowsily into a dream.

In her dream, she was lost on the first day of school, having entered the wrong building. Unable to find her way, she ran into a tall boy with a student council armband. She hurriedly called out to him.

Then, her dream took her to a dance studio, where she suddenly heard the sound of a violin. She turned around and saw a boy in a white school uniform leaning against the door.

The violin rested on his shoulder as she casually said, "Go on."

She also dreamed of the day of their state-level competition, where she happened to have menstrual cramps. She sat on the bus, sweating and pale, nearly fainting. Someone asked all the other women on the bus if they had painkillers.

Although their time together was less than a hundred days, there were many unforgettable moments.

At the end of the dream, it was a school day with students rushing to leave.

Amidst the joyful noise of summer cicadas and the evening sun, Wesley rode a bicycle and said, "Get on. We can still watch the tide roll in. Didn't you say you wanted to see it yesterday?"

She sat on his rear seat, the wind filling his uniform. He was usually indifferent to others but was warm and passionate with her, like the rising tide by the sea, intense and fleeting.

Before she could fully appreciate it, the tide had receded, leaving only the calm sea. She felt a sense of loss, helplessly watching everything fade away.

Few girls in love could handle such an abrupt breakup, especially one without any warning. After all, it didn't give her any chance to react to the situation.

Emelie began to wonder if she had done something wrong. But she really couldn't remember. She was trapped in her own confusion and turmoil, falling seriously ill and taking three days off from school.

William knew all of that. Hence, he decided to find Wesley.

Like Emelie, William thought Wesley had some untold reason for breaking up. Perhaps his parents disapproved of him being with someone from a humble background, forcing the breakup, while Wesley himself was unwilling.

However, when he found Wesley, he was casually strolling around, as if nothing had happened.

William's anger flared up. He grabbed Wesley by the collar. "If you're not serious about Emelie, why do you keep warning me to stay away from her?"

Wesley looked at him expressionlessly. "Even if I break up with Eme, I won't allow you to touch her."

William sneered, pointing to a boxing gym across the street. "Do you want to give it a try?"

"What?" Wesley was confused.

William let go of his collar. "If you lose, you'll leave the city and never appear in front of Emelie again."

At that moment, Wesley's anger reached its peak, all the pent-up emotions finally finding an outlet. He said, "Fine.

They fought with everything they had, not holding back at all, but Wesley still lost.

Even though he gave his all, he couldn't change the outcome between him and Emelie. Everything seemed destined.

When Wesley left for abroad, Emelie ran after his car for a long distance.

Wesley saw it all clearly in the rearview mirror and ultimately couldn't bear to leave. He shouted to the driver," Stop!"

Yennifer stopped him, not wanting him to ruin everything at the last moment. "Wes! Your grandmother is waiting for us in Mercianna. If you can take over the Filo family, we'll have a chance to avenge the Pierce family. After we succeed, we can come back and be reunited with Eme."

Wesley pushed Yennifer away, opened the car door, and ran out.

Emelie was crying and her nose was red. "Wesley, where are you going? Do you really not want me anymore?"

"Abroad," Wesley said, unable to tell her the truth. His voice was hoarse. "To study at a university. Eme, go back." "You're not taking me with you?" Emelie asked.

"Not this time," he said.

He knew his journey wouldn't be smooth sailing. He would face countless dangers. In his heart, he hoped she'd wait for him as he would be back.

However, Emelie said, "If you leave this time, I won't wait for you or forgive you."

Wesley was unable to form a response and left.

Emelie was left by the roadside, crying her heart out.

William saw all of this. He knew better than anyone how much Emelie loved Wesley and how important Wesley was to her.

She would call out to him in her dreams while unconscious. He was the only one in her eyes, and she even ignored those who passed by. She chased his car for miles, hoping he would take her with him.

Even if he wanted to take advantage of the situation, William felt that she would never forget Wesley for her whole

life.

As someone proud and privileged himself, William couldn't accept his girlfriend harboring feelings for another man. Hence, even though Wesley was gone and no one stopped him from approaching Emelie, he didn't go after

her.

By the end of that year, Emelie was still in high school, while William went abroad for college. He too had experienced a breakdown because of her, but Emelie knew nothing about it.

Years later, on a rainy night, he rushed to rescue her after hearing about the accident of the Hoven family. After all

those years, he still couldn't let go of her and kept watching over her.

He held a black umbrella and finally held her hand.
