What a jerk! How shameless!

The woman beside them finally grasped their relationship. She couldn't believe it. "You're her husband? No way." "Why not?"

The woman didn't expect Pearl's husband to be so young and handsome. Jealousy filled her immediately. "She doesn't have a husband. I've never seen her with any man. Did she hire you to act like one?"

Richard narrowed his eyes, pleased to learn that Pearl hadn't been seen with other men. "Just because she's not seen with men doesn't mean she's not married. If she doesn't have a husband, then who's the father of her child?" The woman snorted coldly. "Well, he's an illegitimate child. God knows which man fathered him."

Richard's smile vanished when the woman implied his son was born out of wedlock. "I'll give you another chance. Who do you say he is?"

Feeling his anger, the woman quickly changed her tune. "Actually, I'm not entirely sure."

Pearl realized she wasn't as strong as the man in front of her, which made her unhappy. She knew he could make this woman apologize just because he was handsome.

Richard raised an eyebrow and glanced at Pearl's son, Darius, who had been silent with his head down. He told the woman, "Since you're uncertain and you've labeled him unfairly, you owe him an apology."

Though the woman was willing to apologize to Richard, she wasn't ready to apologize to the boy. "He's just a child. What does he know? Why should I apologize to him?"

Pearl angrily interjected, "Even though he's just a kid, he understands everything. Don't you see the hurt your words caused?"

Seeing her sudden anger and Richard's chilling gaze, the woman hesitated but immediately apologized. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said those words to you."

Darius, kind like his mother, didn't stay upset and hold a grudge. He nodded gently.

"I understand, but make sure you don't say such things anymore."

After apologizing, the woman thought she needed to do more since Pearl and Richard remained silent. So, she took some money from her purse. "Here, take this for some treats."

Darius waved his hand. "I don't need the money. Keep it."

The woman then awkwardly returned the money to her bag. "In that case, I'll just take my child and leave."

Darius and the rest of them remained silent, so the woman left with her son, who appeared lost. Soon after, the teacher found an excuse to leave because of the awkward atmosphere.

Then, only Pearl, Richard, and Darius were left. Pearl and Richard looked at each other.

Breaking the silence, Darius turned to the two adults. "Are you really my dad...?"
