Chapter 950
Molly had her arm casually draped around Anya's shoulder. "Who would've thought my Anya was a class officer? What kind of officer are you?"
Anya chuckled. "The kind that barely does anything. Chad suggested I run for class officer to get involved and build some skills, so I picked the least demanding role: Social Coordinator."
Molly thought about it and realized it seemed like an easy gig. Nowadays, students and teachers communicated directly, so Anya had landed herself a pretty laid-back position.
"But whenever there's a lecture and no one else is available, I end up going." Anya added with a shrug.
Molly affectionately ruffled Anya's hair.
Chad, holding his little nephew, walked from the east entrance to the west, coordinating the exit order with the school. He was also organizing his team, including Donnie. "With so many students attending, we need an officer at each exit to ensure safety." Donnie nodded and started assigning positions.
As expected, someone was eyeing Jade's man.
A disappointed sigh rippled through the crowd as they spotted Chad confidently carrying a small child around.
The little one loved gnawing on his uncle's police badge, inspecting it before continuing to nibble.
Chad looked down at him, eyes filled with affection, and gently patted the nephew's head. "I've got a presentation soon, save some drool for later, alright?"
People naturally assumed the child was his son.
As the presentation was about to begin, Henry became restless. The room was packed and stuffy. It wasn't clear if he was hungry or thirsty, but he started crying inconsolably. No amount of soothing helped.
Molly was prepared, having stealthily grabbed Henry's diaper bag loaded with formula.
Anya, quick on her feet and with ten minutes to spare, managed to prepare the formula despite the microphone making a loud screech that made Henry cry louder.
Chad quickly carried him outside to calm him down.
Downstairs, Anya had the formula ready and was rushing back to the lecture hall.
Henry only calmed down in his aunt's arms.
Molly took him into her arms, "Now, you better not start crying during your uncle's speech. Not only will you get famous, but so will your aunt. And she's already quite the celebrity here, being the retired school beauty. She doesn't need any more fame, okay?" Henry ignored his aunt's chatter, continuing to cry.
"Henry, try to pick up some of your aunt's better traits, not her flair for drama. That's not something to be proud of."
The drama continued.
After some back-patting and cheek-kissing, Anya, out of breath, managed to quiet Henry with the timely formula. Oh, he was hungry.
He held the bottle with both hands, eagerly gulping it down. Molly even leaned in to hear his swallowing.
With tears still clinging to his eyelashes, he was carried back into the hall for the one-and-a-half-hour lecture. The event was lengthy, so a few seats at the front were left empty. Anya, taking care of her cousin on behalf of her aunt, sat in the front row. She attentively took notes with her notebook and pen, unlike many others absorbed in their phones.
Molly hadn't seen such a diligent girl before; she was sure many people behind them were distracted.
In their senior year, Molly and Mia's classmates saw each other less frequently after graduating a semester early. They'd only seen Mia a few times since then, and Molly had vanished from their sight.
Rumor had it she got married, but to whom?
The police officer here seemed familiar, rumored to be Molly's brother.
And her belly... was she pregnant?!
Whispers spread from the back, "Isn't that Molly, the former school beauty, in the first row? Looks like she's pregnant."
"Isn't she holding her child? I heard she got married, but Henry doesn't seem the right age."
"Look, does he resemble the principal? Wasn't she pregnant and took extra courses during a break?"
"Little Henry is so chubby and cute. Could he really be the child the principal was expecting?" someone else wondered.
Old forum posts resurfaced,
showing photos of the father-son duo bringing Mia to school half a year ago, still easy to find. "Look, the kid in the photos isn't thin either, it must be him!" en FindNovel
Eventually, whispers from the front confirmed everyone's suspicion.
"School officials confirmed he's the principal's kid."
This led to more confusion, "If he's the principal's kid, why isn't the principal here, but he is? Could it be... attending for his mom?"
In the front row.
Henry, with his little face turned up, looked around curiously, his belly full and "lively."
"Ahh. mmm mmm"
Molly gestured for him to be quiet with a "shh."
Imitating his aunt, he puckered his lips and giggled at her and Anya.
The officials in the second row didn't dare to disrupt the silence.
Lying in his aunt's arms, Henry turned his head and saw some unfamiliar faces, giving the school officials a toothy grin and babbling as if trying to talk to them. Seeing this, the officials didn't mind, even waving back at Henry.
Anya, diligently taking notes, had Henry on her lap, discovering new things.
He sucked on his bottom lip, stood on his aunt's lap, and suddenly lunged into Anya's arms.
Anya quickly embraced the chubby baby, and Henry's laughter filled the hall, delightfully distinct. Anya shushed him gently, "Shh, baby, be quiet."
"Hey."
He was too adorable, breaking Anya's resolve as she quickly pecked him on the cheek.
Sitting in Anya's lap, Henry looked down at her pen and notebook.
Anya, holding Henry, continued to write.
Unexpectedly, he leaned forward, trying to grab Anya's pen.
Chad finally handed his pen to his wife, "Molly, give this to Henry."
Turning around, Molly offered the pen to her nephew, "Here, it's from your uncle, go ahead."
Henry took the pen, studying it as he tried to draw on the notebook, but unlike Anya's, nothing appeared.
He continued to explore, cuddled in
arms that adored him, as Anya stole
glances to ensure no one was
capturing this moment on their
phones before smothering Henry's
chubby cheeks with kisses.
"Henry, would you be my dear brother? You're Anya's favorite kid," she said, her voice filled with an affection that was almost palpable.
In the back, someone had already
tuned out from the long-winded
speech of the leader, choosing instead to focus their attention on their phone, capturing videos of Henry, including the moment Anya gave him a kiss.
The forums buzzed with updates.
