The Billionaire’s Regret

Chapter 126 –

I carus smiled and looked around with a wild look in his eyes. "Excellent! It's a deal!"

The meeting was adjourned.

Cooper held his forehead helplessly when Ivy and Cooper were the only ones left in the room.

"I didn't intend for you to bet against him!"

Ivy cocked her brow. "Well, it's already gotten to that point, so we can't just abandon the bet now, can we? You were also the one who got me involved in this!"

"That's because his son is a loser, so we can't rely on him solely on a bet. I included you because I really want you to help with this project."

Ivy gave a meaningful smile and seemed to be in the mood for gossip. "How come you despise Icarus Lewis' son so much?"

Cooper gave a cold snort. "He scandalized himself by seducing a female subordinate. Because of him, our company almost made it onto the trending topics for the wrong reasons. Do you have any idea how much money I spent to make things right? He still has no idea what he did wrong and is attempting to place that woman in our finance department. Icarus Lewis repeatedly assisted in its concealment, so it's a bloody mess. I want them gone!"

Ivy's grin faded. 'So, he's a scumbag, isn't he?'

"Well, then, he deserves it."

Ivy pursed her lips and turned to face Greg. "Can you tell me anything about that project and the Wall Street hotshot?"

Greg gave a nod and handed over a file.

Ivy smiled, opened it, and her face stiffened instantly. Surprisingly, it was completely blank!

Cooper coughed, stood up, and exited the room. "We haven't found anything. Probably his name is also a forgery, so you'll have to work a little harder."

Ivy was rendered speechless.

'Did I just get myself in a pickle?'

Greg couldn't stop laughing at the side. "President Ivy, please let me know if you require my assistance."

Ivy turned to face him and asked the burning question on her mind.

"Do you know why Icarus Lewis is so sure he can finish this project?"

Icarus put everything he had on the line for this project. Isn't it likely that it wasn't blind faith?

Greg shook his head, a defeated expression on his face. He was oblivious to the reason. "I'll check it right away." 'I'm intrigued by this mysterious person!'

At that precise moment, her phone rang. It was Vince. She took it up.

"What's up, Vince?"

"Ivy, we're having a work celebration tonight at the Harmonie Club. Would you like to come?"

Ivy was about to say yes when she realized that Wyatt Reed, the party's title sponsor, would most likely attend.

"Don't worry, my uncle isn't coming," Vince said, sensing her hesitation. "Tonight is Eric Todd's bachelor party. According to what I've heard, the girl is pregnant and they're having a shotgun wedding!"

Ivy couldn't stop laughing. "All right, I'll be there!" She hung up the phone and immediately dialed Agatha's number.

"Did your mother abandon her marriage proposal to Eric Todd?"

Agatha snorted. "He's not up to par for me! My mother has been hesitant about the marriage union since the last time you assisted me in taking that picture. The Todds are now dealing with their issues. I'd heard he had an affair with a poor girl and a falling out with his family. Who knows how things are now?"

Ivy laughed and couldn't stop herself from telling her what she'd just heard.

Agatha breathed a sigh of relief. "God is helping me! It's no surprise that their family kept this a secret. Now I can truly unwind. I recently met a guy, by the way. In any case, I'll tell you more about it later. My mother has come to check on me!" In a panic, she hung up the phone.

Ivy laughed and went to prepare for the party later that night.

Anyway, she could put the project issue aside for the time being until Greg discovered why Icarus was so certain of landing this project.

The city lights were bright and glistening at night.

The Harmonie Club.

Ivy went in cheerfully. She wore a very casual plaid shirt and mini skirt today, which made her appear taller and slender because it highlighted her long legs. Nobody could take their gaze away from her.

When she entered the private room, she noticed Vince spraying a bottle of champagne all over the place as he chased after Brad. It was a vivacious atmosphere.

Flint sat off to the side, chatting with the director about something. He appeared to be at ease.

His eyes glowed when he saw Ivy. He greeted her with a smile and stood up.

"Ms. Morgan, you've arrived!"

The director and others greeted her as well. Some of them appeared unfamiliar to her. They were most likely Vince's fellow explorers.

Mirasol sat by himself in the corner. She was dressed opulently as if she were about to walk the red carpet.

No one was concerned about her as she sat by herself at the time. Mirasol had finally realized that no one liked her after the last bungee jumping incident in which the crowd voted for her to jump off.

Mirasol apologized for being too competitive in the show and for targeting Ivy with an obvious motive. No one cared about her physical condition after she finished her jump and climbed back up; they only announced the end of the shooting.

Mirasol did not want to be a part of this celebration at first, but she needed to come to be cast in the next episode. Even though her reputation had recently deteriorated and she had lost some important jobs, she remained quite popular. If she is unable to participate in this show, no one will ever hear of her, and her situation will only worsen!

Mirasol couldn't help but be envious of Ivy's popularity. 'She's simply wealthy, that's why!'

While Brad was going to answer a phone call, Vince approached Ivy and dragged her over to Brad, telling him that he would not be joining for the next episode. He plans to go on an African safari to see elephants.

Ivy gave Brad, who was sitting on the side and looking serious, a thumbs up.

Sure enough, he'd be wherever there was danger!

Brad walked out of the room, rolling his eyes at them.

"Is there anything to drink?" Vince inquired.

Ivy paused for a moment before responding, "I'll have a bottle of vintage Chateau d'quis, please." She missed this flavor because she hadn't had it in a long time.

Vince's expression changed slightly, and he asked in hushed tones, "Do you want me to go bankrupt?"

Ivy took a breather. "I'm sorry! I completely forgot you didn't have any money. Then it's all on me. Feel free to order whatever you want."

Vince inhaled deeply. 'Fortunately, I gave up on Ivy's thoughts early on. Otherwise, I'd die of embarrassment. I'm curious what Uncle Wyatt would say!

"Is one bottle enough?" he asked, chuckling.

In this regard, Vince and Wyatt were poles apart.

Everyone was giggling and conversing. The atmosphere was fantastic.

Brad stormed in with a solemn expression and dragged Ivy out of the room. "I need your help!"

Ivy was taken aback and followed. "What's the matter?"

Brad clenched his teeth and drew her to the window side of the corridor. His face was a little glum as he considered how to say this.

Ivy scowled. Brad had never spoken with such uneasiness to her before.

"If you don't say anything, I'll go back?"

"Would you like to be my girlfriend?"

Ivy was taken aback. Brad quickly added, "-a phony one."

She was full of questions and looked at him with skepticism. 'Does he have evil intent?'

Brad was about to say something, but he stopped himself. His gaze was unclouded. "Do you require me to swear to it?"

Her gaze softened slightly. "What makes you want a phony girlfriend?"

Brad inhaled deeply. His expression was unusually gloomy. "I've just seen my ex-girlfriend!"

"You mean the one who cheated on you?"

Brad's face was flushed with rage. He immediately narrowed his eyes. "Did Vince, that son of a bitch, tell you that?"

"Is there anyone else?" Ivy felt no remorse for betraying Vince.

Brad was not in the mood to settle his differences with Vince because vengeance was more important!

"She came here for a bachelorette party, so I owe her congratulations!"

Brad said with his teeth clenched.

"Do you have to..." Ivy spoke helplessly.

He didn't appear to want to congratulate her at all.

"She cheated on me and stole my money so she could buy gifts for that man! She transferred all of my money after I confronted her about it!" Brad was so enraged that his head was smoking when he talked about it!

"Wow, that's so sad!"

Ivy pursed her lips and looked sympathetically at Brad. "Then we should properly congratulate her."

Anyway, it was just a favor, so it wasn't a big deal.

"But... Do you think I'm the right person for the job?"

Brad assessed her. "You're wealthy."

This advantage alone has the potential to irritate that woman.

Ivy pursed her lips. 'What a great reason!'

Brad dragged Ivy through the long corridor and into a private room near theirs without any preparation.

Because the door wasn't completely shut, they could hear the chatter and music inside through the gap.
