The Elemental Sisters: Spirit

Chapter Chapter Ten (Akasha)

My sisters were sleeping by the time I got back to my tent, I looked at their sleeping forms and moved around them to my spot, trying not to wake them. I quickly changed into a white nightdress, setting my sword on the ground beside me. I

sat cross-legged in my spot and went into a meditative state.

This way I could rest my body while guarding my sisters, when we reached the kingdom, I would get a better sleep. It also helped prevent the nightmares I had been experiencing of late, some of them being my visions recurring over again and others of the goblins killing those I love most. My sisters.

In my meditative state, my body could rest while my spirit observed my surroundings and communicate with the spirits that were around, usually they were more than willing to help. I had to be careful though because evil spirits were dangerous; they were like a poison that could corrupt those around them, there are ways to protect yourself, or cleanse the poison away, but it was a lot of work and quite difficult to do. I carried a protection charm my mother had made me and so far it had done its job, I just hoped it would last.

Sometimes, I could leave my body and astral project, and at others I was anchored to it. It depended on how well I was able to focus. My mother had taught me this ability as a way to focus my thoughts and control my soul from slipping away, my mother controlled the spirit element as well and had heard stories about others not having the control to renter their bodies. So, it was one of the first things she taught me. Unlike, the other elements pixies with control over the spirit elements were rare.

My father-controlled fire like my sister Ari. They even shared characteristics, their eyes turned orange when using their powers and my father had black hair as well whereas my mother and I looked similar. Unlike with other creatures, pixies looked like their elements and got the majority of their traits from them.

A scream from one of my sisters had instantly pulled me from my meditative state. Grabbing my sword, I jumped up and prepared to fight. I looked around the tent and saw smoke billowing in the corner.

"It's fine, normal morning drama." Karm stated from the corner where he and Ela sat, probably waiting for me to come out of my meditative state.

I sighed and lowered my sword and relaxed as Gia informed me, "Ari accidentally set the tent on fire; I knew caves were safer."

Sunama shrugged and put out the fire with her water.

"You stupid dragon!" Huricana yelled as Ari growled at her in response.

Rolling my eyes, I left the tent, walking right into a muscled chest. I looked up to see Tyr looking down at me, two guards at his sides. I raised my hands placatingly as I back away. "Sorry, didn't mean to."

He looked around, then asked, "We heard a scream. Is everything ok?"

I nodded. "Everything is fine. Ari has a tendency of lighting stuff on fire in the morning, Sunama put it out already."

"So, she's not a morning person?" Tyr chuckled.

"No." Ari replied as she skipped out of the tent.

The guards chuckled to themselves and walked away.

Karm and Ela exited the tent, "I don't think the goblins are nearby, we searched the area and haven't found anything." Ela informed me.

I looked around, and everyone was already packing up camp. Looking at the muscled chest in front of me, I looked up to see Tyr and was reminded of how tall he really was; I frowned, feeling tiny. "We are moving already?" I asked him. "Yeah, we should be at the elf kingdom by lunchtime. You should hurry and pack up or you'll be left behind." He replied, walking away.

Ouch, why was he so cold, did I anger him? I thought to myself as he hesitated for a minute before continuing away from me. "Wonder why he is so grumpy, he seemed completely different last night." Ela frowned.

"You guys were following us?" I asked them, embarrassed.

Karm shrugged, then smiled. "We didn't have anything else to do."

Never mind that, I sent a mental message to my sisters to pack up and get ready to head out and to tell Ari to get her ass back to the tent.

Five minutes later Frey strode over with Ari slung over his shoulder, kicking and screaming, while Frey unceremoniously dumped her on the ground like a sack of potatoes.

Ari glared at him, pouncing to her feet, "Was that really necessary?"

"Yes, I quite enjoyed it, actually." He mused, with a gleam in his eye and a smirk on his face. "Tyr says it's time to pack up." he laughed.

That left her speechless... for a fraction of a second.

"You are such a brute," she declared as she flicked her hair and walked away.

Within the tent, I heard Huricana cackling with amusement.

Ari screamed, "shut up and get to work."

"I personally find those two hilarious, they have the love-hate thing going on but we both know that is Ari's way of flirting." Ela laughed.

"I think you take too much joy from watching us." I accused.

"It is very entertaining." Karm replied.

With in the hour, the camp was packed up, and we were on the move yet again.

Half an hour before noon we snuck away from the army to a nearby river that Gia had sensed, we all desperately wanted to bathe so my sisters and I stripped down grabbed the few soaps we had and went into the water, after cleaning ourselves we swam around in the water, enjoying it.

"You have an audience." Ela yelled at me with a laugh. Just as I heard a noise from the riverbank and turned to face Tyr, Mohan, Frey and Ezryn. They looked surprised as they quickly turned around and walked away, stopping just before the treeline.

"Well, that was embarrassing." Ari mused.

"Hah, get it bare-ass." Huricana laughed.

"Don't worry, they liked it." Gia stated as she walked out of the water, with my sisters and me following. The men kept their backs turned as we quickly dressed.

My sisters didn't seem to care, but I knew my face was red with embarrassment. The fact that I was attracted to Tyr made it that much worse, what if he didn't like what he saw? Tyr coughed, "Are you decent?" He asked.

"Yes, we are. You peeping toms." Ari teased the men.

The men turned around and Mohan defended, saying, "There is such a thing as a bathtub."

I looked at him and rolled my eyes, "We belong in nature, that is why the elements are a part of us to begin with. We don't need modern connivences to be happy."

"Good excuse." Karm teased, and I glared at him.

"Yeah, except for maybe a toilet." Huricana blurted, then laughed as I glared at her.

Ari walked up to Frey standing right in front of him, "If I find out you are picturing me naked, I'm going to hurt you." She scolded.

He looked down at Ari with a smirk and touched her cheek, "Soon I won't have to picture it." He spoke while licking his lips suggestively before walking away, leaving Ari speechless.

Tyr stood there silently, his body relaxed, but his gaze lingered on me. When I met his eyes, he looked away. Geez, this guy is frustrating.

"I'm sorry for the interruption, we should have warned you before we intruded."

"Thank you, but why were you here, anyway?" I asked, blushing.

"We noticed you weren't with the group and were concerned."

"Not only are we able to protect ourselves, but you had said you would leave without us this morning, so I didn't think it mattered." "It's my duty to protect you." He spoke heatedly, a lot of emotion for an elf.

"How is it your duty? You merely just found us?" I asked, getting angry myself. "And like I said, you said you would leave without us."

"Maybe a poorly planned joke?" Ela suggested, and I frowned at her.

"I do not need to explain my orders to you. Just accept them."

"Fine." I agreed heatedly as I realized that the others had walked away without us.

Gia looked back and smirked, "a lovers' quarrel dare we watch?"

Ari replied to her, "Oh, we dare." Before laughing as I shot them a nasty look.

I walked away from Tyr towards my sisters. I glanced back and noticed a sad expression on his face, but when he realized I was looking, he put the blank expression back on.

This guy loved his masks and I'm going to love destroying them. I thought as I saw him square his jaw stubbornly. Odd.

Mohan walked up to me, "I wouldn't take his comment this morning to heart, he is awful when it comes to joking." He laughed, "We wouldn't have left you behind." "Apparently humor isn't an elf trait."

"Neither is showing emotion." Mohan shared. "It really is foreign to us."

"Except Frey, that guy is all emotion, someone messed u his training." Ezryn commented.

"We should catch up with the others." I stated, picking up the pace.
