Chapter 28. She's in Coma
Alan was making out with a maid when his phone rang. He picked it up at the first ring.
"Follow her and give me every single details of her movement. Do no lose sight of her." He heard his boss's voice boom over the phone. Alan didn't need to ask who, he already knew it was the soon to be mistress of the mansion.
"Sorry, gotta go," He said over to the maid and made to get up but she held him.
"Come on, stay with me for a little while longer," She pleaded
"I've got work to do," He said and started getting dressed.
"I don't want to see you here when I get back," He said and walked out of the door.
He walks hastily out to the porch and saw Ronnie being led by the driver.
"Hey, stop," Alan yelled
The duo looked at him I'm shock as he ran to meet them.
"Alan, where are you going, you're panting," Ronnie asked in concern.
"Oh, that," He said, panting. "The boss said I should drive you to your destination to ensure more safety," He said and the driver looked hurt. "Oh," Ronnie mouthed.
"Don't worry, it's not what you think," Alan said to the driver.
"Let's go, I'm in a hurry," Ronnie said I'm a rush.
Alan opened the door to the door and Ronnie stepped in.
"Take me to the city's general Hospital," She said.
"The general Hospital? I thought you don't go there? What do you want to do there?" He asked multiple questions at a row.
"Please drive and don't ask me questions I can't give an answer to," She said and ignored him.
Alan drive the car with Ronnie at the passenger's seat uncomfortably.
"Can you go a little bit faster?" She asked, politely
Alan, drove faster this time and they got to the hospital in no time.
Once the car stopped, Ronnie got out with all urgency and almost ran out.
"You can go now, pick me up first thing tomorrow," She said and ran off.
It was wierd seeing the pretty short haired woman run into the hospital. Alan just hoped it was not something serious.
Once Ronnie got into the hospital, she went straight to the restroom to change. She removed her wigs and makeup. She also changes her clothes to a more convenient one. A jeans and T shirt. Even though her mother was sick, she didn't want to complicate issues.
After she was done with her new look, she went to Daniel's office. She saw him attending to a lady.
"Where's my mother?" She asked, not minding the woman staring at her like a lunatic.
Daniel, held himself professionally. Although he was happy to see her, he couldn't show it in front of the patient.
"Miss Ronnie, can you please take your seat?" He said softly.
"I can't do that. I need to see my mother," She blurted rather too rudely.
"I think you should attend to her," The woman offered. "I'll come back tomorrow," She said and got up and made to leave. She smiled at Daniel and left.
Daniel stood up from his seat and moved toward Ronnie.
"Let's go," He said and led her out. He was silent which made Ronnie scared
"What's wrong with her," She asked.
"Ronnie, let's arrive first," He said, unable to hide his sympathy.
They arrived at the door and the sight scared the living daylight out of Ronnie
Right there, in front of her, was her mother, lying unconscious, with all sort of tubes in her mouth and nose.
"What's with my mum," Ronnie asked, slightly shaking Daniel.
"Ronnie, calm down," He said.
"Don't tell me to calm down, Daniel. What happened to my mum," She said
"I found her lying unconscious when I arrived. She called me before she fell inconcious, which was a good thing," He tried to speak.
"What do you mean good thing," She asked
"She would have been dead" He said, plainly
"When is she gonna gain consciousness?" Ronnie asked, still shaking him.
"That...I don't know?" He said truthfully.
"What do you mean you don't know?" She asked, eyeing him curiously.
"She's in coma," He said and looked away from her, as if scared to see her reaction.
"Wait... My mum is in coma an you have no damn idea when shes gonna wake up? Give me a break," She said sarcastically.
"It may take months, a year, two years, maybe three or more for her to wake up. Let's just pray." He said again.
Ronnie felt like crying. She didn't want to accept that her mum is in coma.
"You'll take care of her right?" She asked, hoping he'd say yes.
Daniel paused for a while, as if debating whether to tell her or not.
Ronnie noticing the hesitation asked.
"What is it, spill it" she ordered.
"I've been transfered to another country. Las Vegas," He finally said and Ronnie lost her stamina. She almost fell down if not for Daniel's strong arms that caught her just in time.
"Ronnie, don't harm yourself. You have to stay strong for your mother. She needs you more than anything now." Daniel said
"Please stay, don't go," Ronnie pleaded
Daniel felt like a heavy stone was placed on his chest. He felt his chest tightening. He wanted to stay but he knew he couldn't stay just for his own selfish reasons. He wanted this woman by his side at all times yet he couldn't have her. He was lost for words as he cuddled her while standing.
"Everything is gonna be ok, I can't stay but I'll come back as soon as I can," He assured her.
"Are you sure?" Ronnie asked, looking up to meet his gaze.
Daniel seemed unsure but he was willing to try.
"I will," He said
Ronnie looked at him one more time and calmed down. She went over to sit down on the couch.
"I think you should go and attend to other people now. I'll stay here for the night," She said and closed her eyes.
"Are you sure?" He asked
"Yes, I'm sure" She assured.
"Il be having the night shift today so I can watch you." He said.
"That's nice of you," She said and leaned in closer to the couch, relaxing her back.
"I'll be off now," He said
"Thank you" she replied and he walked out of the room.
"Boss, she said I should come back tomorrow and pick her up," Alan, who was still in the hospital driveway called Damon.
"Don't you dare come back without her. Sit there all night and watch over my wife. If anything should happen to her, you'll have your head cut off," Damon threatened and hung up. Alan cursed under his breath. Since when was his boss so protective?
