Why deceive me??

Chapter 29. Let it all out

It was already midnight and Damon was yet to fall asleep. His mind kept drifting off to Ronnie and the panic he saw on her face. He wanted to go over where she was and see for himself but he restrained himself. His wolf was nagging at him to go get her but he was so stubborn to succumb. He knew something was not right.

Every now and then, he'd glance at the window, hoping he'd see her come in, but would be disappointed at each glance. He was still thinking about her when Alan called him. He picked up at the first ring. "Boss, the mistress said I should come around tomorrow and pick her up," Alan said.

Damon felt the blood surge through his veins. He wanted to hit Alan so hard for not knowing he has to stay with her through the night. He managed to control his anger but failed.

"Don't you dare come back without her? Sit there all night and watch over my wife. If anything should happen to her, you'll have your head sliced out of your body," Damon threatened and hung up.

He sat down on his bed and assured himself everything was going to be fine. He lay down to get don't sleep but couldn't. He cursed under his breath and walks to the wine bar. He sat down on the seat and grabbed a beer. He needed a distraction.

He gulped down the beer and tries to get the sick feeling he was having. He didn't want to miss her that much. They don't even like each other and he was already missing her. No, it was just a normal feeling of not seeing someone he usually

sees.

He was on his fifth bottle of beer but still, no result in forgetting her. He got provoked and walks back to his room.

He slumped on the bed and had a long, restless sleep.

Ronnie woke up the next morning and the first thing she did was look over at her mother's bed. She saw the way her mother was taking in the oxygen and felt new, fresh tears in her eyes again.

"You know you can't keep crying? She senses your emotions." Daniel, who had been standing at the door, even before she woke up, spoke.

Ron turned to him and stood up. She wiped the tears with her palm and smiled weakly.

"Good morning," She said.

"Good afternoon," He replied.

"I didn't know I slept this late," She said.

"Nah, I came in to check on you this morning but you were still asleep so I couldn't afford the guts to wake you up." He explained.

"Oh, sorry," She replied and smiled.

"I want you to always smile, ok," Daniel said

"Yeah, umm.." She began

"I think you should have umm... What do I say now, lunch." He said and gestured a corner for her.

She saw a tray of food already placed neatly by the corner.

"Thanks," She said in appreciation

"That's the least I can do," He said.

They conversed for a while but it didn't make to now feel any better.

"So, when are you leaving?" Ronnie asked

"I don't know yet. But what I know is I would go very soon," He replied.

"Ok, wish you all the best," She said.

"Are you sure you'd be ok on your own?" He asked, concerned.

"Yeah, I'll be very ok." She said, even though she knew she was gonna miss him.

"Are you gonna miss me?" He asked, staring deep into her eyes.

Ronnie didn't know what to say. She wanted to tell him how much she'd miss him, how much she didn't want him to go, how much she soich admires him, how much she wants him for herself. But she knew it couldn't work now anyways

"Yeah," She said, diverting her gaze from him

"I'll be back." He finally said.

"You promise?" She asked, gazing intently at him.

"I promise," He replied.

"Ok then," She said and rested her head on his shoulder.

She felt so sad that she couldn't even think of the moment as romantic.

When Daniel left, she stayed with her mother and cried.

"I'm sorry I didn't come to visit you as I promised," She started. "It was beyond my control, you know. But I'll come to you every single chance I get. You don have to worry,"

Ronnie felt like her heart was being confiscated from her. She wanted to shake her mum violently to wake her up but she knew it was just a lost cause.

She stood up and went toward the tray of food. She opened it and ate a little out of it. She wanted to stay strong for her mother just like Daniel said. And to do so, she has to eat, even though the food tastes like muck in her taste buds. She didn't have any appetite but what can she do?

She finally remembered she told Alan to pick her up that morning. She gasped and took out the phone. She saw a series of missed calls. Three from Alan and only one from Damon.

She began dialing Alan's number when his call came in. She picked it up immediately.

"I know you're the mistress and all, but why are you so cruel? I've been staying in the car since this morning and have not one a call from you. You didn't even pick up my calls," He lamented without giving her a space to speak. When Ronnie was sure he had finished blabbing, she spoke.

"Alan, as you have said, I am the mistress and I believe as the mistress, I have every right to do as I please. And that includes having you waiting for me," she snapped.

Alan's mouth immediately shot open at her words. She couldn't even apologize.

"It's almost evening and the boss needs you at home Asap." He said

At the mention of Damon, she flinched. Remembering she promised to return the next morning.

"I'll be out in a sec," She said and hung up the phone.

She stood up and headed to the restroom. She freshened up and applied her makeup, but lighter this time. She wore her usual show-off outfit and headed to the car. She sent a text to Daniel telling him she had gone back. She saw the flashy black car by the garage and went in.

Alan noticed her swollen face and her gloomy mood but kept mute. He knew she wasn't in a good mood. They drive in silence till they arrived at the mansion.

She alighted from the car and went into the mansion. She headed straight to her room. When she twisted the doorknob, she heard his voice.

"You look horrible, what happened?" He asked

"Nothing to concern yourself," She replied, rather than it coming rudely, it came rather weak.

She could feel another round of tears coming down as she remembered her mother. She needed to let it down. She rushed into her room and sat down on the bed to let out the pain she was feeling. She was still sobbing when she felt a strong arm patting her head. She didn't care to know who the person was. She didn't care if it was Alan, she just wanted to cry.

She held on to him and sobbed.

"Let it all out," Damon said and she sobbed louder this time.
