Chapter 101
Xavier's POV
I nodded, and Greyson injected Erika with something to knock her out, and for a moment I wished he had used wolfbane to knock her out.
Erika deserves to feel how she makes Kate suffer.
I sighed, frustrated.
I made a promise to Kate to only interfere when it was absolutely necessary; otherwise, I must stay out of it.
I could have resolved this whole thing weeks ago, but Kate was looking for something.
Something was telling her that there was a reason for all of this, and just removing John wouldn't resolve the problem. She was using him, and delaying the process to get to the bottom of this.
Tonight is the night; I'm done playing and following Kate's rules. Erika and her family must pay!
Erika cried out, and a few seconds later she was out cold.
Greyson turned to me and nodded, then carefully lifted her and pulled a shirt over her head.
Ten minutes later, we were all in the SUV and leaving the hotel.
"Do you think she really knows where Luna is being held?" Greyson asked.
"Ironically," I said angrily, "I do."
"Is Luna still..."
"I believe she is fine," I answered, "but I have a bad feeling..."
My phone beeped in my pocket, and I retrieved it, seeing a message with an attachment.
I opened the video, and anger sprouted from the depths of my soul.
There were blue marks on Kate's chin, and blood was flowing down her throat, leaving streaks of blood dripping on her dress. The video was shocking to watch, but I was a bit relieved that Kate was still alive. "What?" Greyson asked, his eyes widening, seeing my face darken and clenching my hands into fists unconsciously.
If I knew where Kate was being held, I would have been there already, ripping everything and everyone apart.
"I received a video clip of Kate," I answered, and I showed it to Greyson.
"What are you going to do?" He asked, getting worried.
I was on the verge of letting Ray loose to look for her.
Greyson handed me the phone, and I dialed the number. Seconds later, the call was answered, and I could see Kate sitting on the chair with a knife at her neck.
"Alpha Black, did you call to find out whether your fiance is still alive?" a familiar voice asked.
"As long as you don't hurt her," I said, "I will do whatever you want."
"I want you dead!" the voice yelled out furiously.
"Very well!" I said without hesitation, "If that is what you require for her to stay alive, I am willing."
I retrieved a pocket knife from my suit pocket and pressed it against my neck, cutting myself in the process with the razor-sharp blade. Blood oozed out of the cut and flowed down my neck immediately. Greyson's eyes widened in shock, but he didn't say anything.
The voice immediately instructed the big wolf holding the blade to lower it.
"Alpha Black, you care too much about your fiance's well-being," he taunted.
Why was he so surprised at my loving Kate?
Doesn't he have a mate?
I didn't say a word; I just kept my gaze pinned on Kate.
The blood oozing from my throat stopped, but my white shirt was already soaked red, indicating how much blood I had lost in the last few seconds.
"I don't think it would help if you died; that is too easy," the voice said. "Seeing how much you care about Ms. King, I think killing her would rather settle the debt you created."
A piece of cloth was pushed into Kate's mouth, and my gaze landed on the wound around her neck.
He was torturing her, and Kate looked like she was about to burst into tears and cry, but she held on strong.
Kate was such a stubborn person. Yet unbelievably strong!
"What are you going to do?" I asked, having a bad feeling about this.
The silver blade slid across Kate's face, and she whimpered in agony.
F*ck! What have I done?
"If you dare to touch a single hair on her," I roared and gritted my teeth. "I will find you and make you wish you were dead."
"It will be worth it," he replied. "I don't know if you would be able to keep that promise, but I can make one I would keep. I can promise you that when you see your precious mate again, it will be in a box!" The voice cut the call, and when I tried to call again, the phone went to voice mail.
I threw the phone against the driver's seat, and it landed back on the passenger seat.
I scrunched my hands into fists and pounded against the driver's chair.
"I can't lose her!" I said, feeling a part of me missing. "I have done this to Kate. This was all my fault. I should have just let them deliver the packages and gotten it over with."
"Who says he would have let her go then?" Ray commented.
I sighed, defeated. He was right; whoever was behind this wasn't one who could be trusted.
When we reached the pack house, the warriors rushed and grabbed Erika, carried her inside, and chained her up.
"Wake her!" I ordered, and Greyson dumped a bucket of ice water over Erika's head.
Erika gasped for air and turned her face to the side, coughing up the water that got into her lungs.
When she eventually stopped coughing, she looked around bewildered, noticing that we weren't in the hotel room anymore.
When her eyes landed on me, seeing the blood on my shirt, her eyes widened, and fear crossed her face.
"What are you doing? Let me go!" Erika yelled out of fright and tried to get up. Her gaze landed on the ropes, and Greyson smiled.
He walked forward and tucked on the ropes, ensuring they were secure, before he indicated to a warrior to hoist her into the air.
Erika's eyes widened, and she shivered visibly as she tried to fight against the rope hold.
"Good," Ray mused, "she is scared. Let's have some fun."
I smiled coldly at Erika and took a step closer.
"I know you sent that video to whoever took Kate," I said and grabbed her chin, "so the deal is off; you better tell me where she is being held, or else..."
Greyson handed me a heated knife, and I brought it closer to her face.
I have never hurt a woman before, but after all the sh*t I have lived through tonight, I didn't give a sh*t!
Erika shook her head. She was unwilling to comply.
"No?" I asked, and a sinister smile followed my lips.
I pressed the blade against Erika's left shoulder, and she yelled out in agony, leaving a red blister on her shoulder.
"Do you want more?" I asked.
Erika ignored me, and I pressed the blade against her inner thigh.
I watched her face reflect pain, and she cried out.
"Why are you doing this?" She cried out, and my mind wandered to what Kate told me about how she was tortured; this wasn't half of what was done to her.
"You are a smart girl, Erika. I can continue with this kind of torture if you can withstand it," I said, gesturing to my bag, "but I have more toys in my bag of tricks. You will probably end up dead anyway, even before I open the bag for my next toy." Erika moaned, yet found the courage to spit at me.
"Keep in mind that no one will ever be able to find you here, not even your father," I warned her.
"I
suggest you give up the destination," Greyson said, heating the blade with a blow torch, "and we all act like this never happened. Alpha Black will even be so kind as to let you go."
Erika didn't think much of it at first; she knew the blister would heal, but when I brought the red-hot blade toward her face, she swallowed hard, and fear became a reality for her.
I could just imagine what was going through her little mind. Her best feature was her face, and if it got burned or even disfigured, she would never be able to influence and manipulate anyone again.
"So what will it be?" Greyson asked, and a deadly smile followed on his lips.
"I-1-1," Erika stuttered nervously, "she-she is being held captive in Alpha Nathan Murphy's pack."
"Where?" I growled, getting angry just thinking of what Nathan would try to do to Kate. The Black Waters Pack was on the south side of the city; it wasn't a very large pack but was mainly involved in illegal trade. "She is being held in a wooden cabinet close to the lake," Erika whimpered.
The moment the words escaped Erika's lips, I didn't care to listen to any more of what she had to say. Greyson will inform me. I let Ray take over and shift, then ran like a bat out of hell toward Nathan's pack.
