The Elemental Sisters: Spirit

Chapter Chapter Eight (Akasha)

The soldiers were relaxing, visiting, and joking amongst each other, that is aside from the ones on guard duty.

After recreating the anchor with Ela and Karm, I walked around as my sisters rested in the tent, all except Ari, who had seemed to vanish. Karm and Ela went to search for her on the outskirts of the camp while I was walking around the camp looking for her, a little worried because she wouldn't just up and leave.

I was about to give up on my search and return to my tent to get my other sisters to help when I heard Ari yelling about fighting tactics, following her voice, I found her and Frey behind one of the tents.

"I'm just saying strength trumps speed any day." Frey boasted as he smiled down at her.

"Typical man saying that, I know for a fact speed would win." She argued, crossing her arms.

"Are you guys really fighting about this?" I laughed as I walked towards them.

They turned to me, "Well?" Ari asked angrily.

"Well, what?" I asked, hoping they wouldn't drag me into their debate. I could see Karm and Ela off to the side, watching the two argue and laughing at their debate.

"Who do you agree with?" Ari fumed.

"I wouldn't get involved in this one." Ela commented, walking over to me with a smile.

"She's not going to listen." Karm laughed.

"Well?” Ari asked again, walking towards me and snapping her fingers in my face.

I sighed, damn should've just kept walking. I pondered what they had said for a moment, then smiled, "You are both right and both wrong."

"That's not an answer, explain!" Frey huffed.

"Well, it doesn't matter if you are strong or fast, it matters what your skills are. If you can't utilize your strengths, they can just as easily become your weakness. So, it's not a matter of strength vs speed, it's a matter of skill."

"Of course, you would find a way to deescalate things." Ari pouted. "By the way, I have been looking for you everywhere, where the hell have you been? You were talking to Tyr, then you just disappeared." She accused. "Looking for me, but I was looking for you. I was with the group until we finished setting up camp." I informed her, a little irritated.

"I left to look for you!" she snapped heatedly as her eyes flickered orange and she hurled a fireball at me.

Annoyed, I swept it away with my spirit hand, "Really, Ari?" unlike my sisters I could manipulate my own spirit and the surrounding spirits, so to the naked eye, I would appear to not have moved but in reality, my spirit moves to block the attacks, like a second body. If I focused on one specific area of my spirit like my hand, I could use the energy to block or hold objects.

"Well, you scared the hell out of me!" she fumed.

I sent images of walking with them into her mind, a little ticked that I had to prove myself.

"Well, why couldn't I see you?"

"Maybe she went invisible?" Frey questioned, impressed.

"Not invisible, spirit form." I corrected with a frown. I'd never been able to do that before.

"But she can't in practice. She can never change her whole body into spirit form." Ari accused.

"I have no idea what happened, I didn't even know you couldn't see me." I confessed.

Tyr ran over and looked at me, "The found you?" he asked, his tone worried.

"I never left," I stated.

"What?" He asked confused.

"Invisible, my sister, invisible she stays until she kills the goblins in her gruesome way." Huricana sang as she skipped up to us in a trance.

We looked at her confused, "What was that about?" I questioned her, trying to break her trance.

"Air speaks to me, and he is coming for you and with him dead, we will be set free." She smiled.

"WHAT!" Ari yelled, walking over to her shaking her. "Snap out of it already."

Each time she was gone longer and longer, her nonsense lingering. Huricana pushed Ari away from her and looked at me, "I love you Akasha, don't forget that." She whispered as she turned and ran away with tears in her eyes. "What was that about?" Tyr cried in frustration, turning to Ari and me.

"Her foretelling's are infuriating." Ela frowned, and I nodded in agreement, getting a look of confusion from Tyr.

"He likes you." Karm stated as he circled Tyr, assessing him, "he is strong and built like a warrior. He would be a good match for you."

"Thanks for your input." I muttered at him.

Ari threw a rock at me, "Quit talking to the ghosts and listen to our conversation."

"They prefer the name spirits, and I can't help it." I frowned at her. "Anyway, I'm not sure what Huricana meant, her mind flows like a gust of wind and when she picks up its warnings, they come out muddled." Gia walked up and calmly stated, "There is method to her madness."

"What method? She sounds completely crazy! How are we ever going to find her a husband?" Ari frowned with a hint of sarcasm.

"You can talk to spirits?" Tyr asked.

I nodded, "I've been able to see and talk to them since I was a child."

Tyr went to respond but stopped when out of the shadows, a small sprite like creature that had lime green skin and glowed appeared and announced, "Dinner is ready. We are having spaghetti, if you want it hot, better get by the pot." Then scampered away.

"Did he say spaghetti?" Gia asked happily, with a big grin on her face as her stomach grumbled.

I looked in resignation and whispered, "Oh boy," as I noticed Ari was still staring after the odd creature.

"Is that lust I see in your eyes?" Gia joked as Frey, Tyr and I laughed hysterically, and Ari turned red.

In a defensive tone, Ari rebutted, "No! that's gross, I just want to know why he's rhyming. I'm not into little green men."

"No, just the big ones." Gia snorted as our laughs redoubled.

Ari was sarcastic but didn't take well to being picked on when it came to her taste in men. Her and Gia were close, but they also argued a lot, mostly teasing that went too far. In all honesty, it was entertaining to watch.

"I would never date a goblin." She roared as flames flew from her fingertips and Gia raised the earth in front of her to block the oncoming assault.

"You guys can't use your powers against each other. You know what will happen," I warned as they quickly calmed down and resumed their bickering without the loss of control of their powers.

"Since you no longer need our help to find Ari, we will take our leave, We will be close by if you need us."

"Thank you for your help."

Ela smiled as her, and Karm disappeared.

Ari and Gia stood and argued as Frey, Tyr and I left to head to supper with them following behind, snipping at each other.
