Chapter Billionaire With Husband 92
Chapter 92
Felix couldn't believe it. He knew Jack's parents. Could they have been so influenced by the different cultures overseas after moving abroad that their mindset had changed? It seemed almost heartless.
"Let's not dwell on it," Jack said with a dismissive wave. "I may be broke now, but I've still got my skills. I passed the final interview for a new job, and I start tomorrow. Wish me luck, friend." They didn't need a lot of words between them. If Jack ever really needed help, Felix knew he'd come to him, and vice versa. That was just how their friendship worked over the years. But this time, Felix decided he would offer help quietly from behind the scenes. He wanted his friend to move on from the sadness his family had caused him as quickly as possible. Since Jack's first day on the job was the next day, and making a good impression was important, their plans to catch up that night were put on hold for another time.
As Felix pulled up to his driveway in front of his villa, ready to park in the garage, he saw Belle standing in front of his car, blocking the way.
Felix was starting to get irritated. Did she really think he wouldn't do anything to her just because she was Xena's subordinate?
"You-"
He barely got a word out after stepping out of the car when Belle, to his surprise, sincerely apologized, "Felix, I'm sorry for the way I spoke to you over the phone earlier. My tone was out of line."
Felix was taken aback. This woman was just like Xena-proud and headstrong. And now, she was apologizing to him?
"I accept your apology. Now, can you leave?"
But it was clear from Belle's expression that she wasn't happy about having to say sorry.
"It's still about the dinner invitation. Ms. Summers genuinely wants to thank you."
Now, Felix was confused.
"Thank me? What for? There's no way Xena would have any reason to be grateful to me. We're worlds apart.
Hah! So, Felix was aware of that? Well, at least that was progress.
"She wanted to thank you for finding the Grimflower and using it on Mr. Summers Senior."
Ah, that was what it was about. Felix quickly pieced things together.

Given the connection between Jordan and Xena, it must have been Wesley himself who followed up on the matter. Jordan might have recognized the Grimflower, but there was no way he could have known the full details without Wesley's help. "Fine. Just tell me the time and place."
Felix figured if he didn't agree, Belle would keep coming back to bother him. Dinner wasn't a big deal he could handle that. Meanwhile, Warren and Nattie walked into the general manager's office on the top floor of the Everbright Group headquarters.
"Please wait a moment, Mr. and Mrs. Quinton. Mr. Lambert will be out of his meeting shortly," the secretary said before stepping out.
As soon as she left, Nattie leaned in, whispering, "Warren, why on Earth would someone like Hugo want to meet you? And why did he specifically ask you to bring me along?"
Warren shook his head, still puzzled.
"I have no idea."
That matter bothered him, too. Compared to the Lambert family's Everbright Group, "Warren's business was just a small-time operation. There was no reason they'd ever have any connection. Yet here they were, being invited out of the blue.
"Do you think it's possible that Hugo wants to collaborate with us? If we can catch a ride on that ship..."
"Don't get ahead of yourself. I have a bad feeling about this."
About ten minutes later, the office door swung open, and Hugo entered.
Warren and Nattie quickly stood up, not daring to show any disrespect in front of someone from such a prestigious family.
"Mr. Lambert," they greeted him.
Hugo said nothing, simply sitting behind his desk. His voice was cold when he finally said, "Make sure Felix is out of Avesburgh by sunset or your business, Mr. Lambert, will be doomed."
